[Weather and access on the day]
I visitedFriday, April 11th, a little before lunch time, just after 11:30.It's sunnyIt was the perfect day for a huge meal (?).
This timeWalk from the Electric Town exit of JR Akihabara StationI went.
Head straight down Chuo-dori Street (north) towards Suehirocho, then turn left just before the large intersection (Sotokanda 5-chome). Pass Don Quijote and you'll find yourself on the corner of Sofmap Akihabara's PC and Digital Store. Turn into a narrow alley from there and you'll soon see the yellow "Gohandokoro Adachi" sign. It's about a 7-8 minute walk from the station, so you won't get lost.
It is also very accessible, just a 3-5 minute walk from Suehirocho Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line.
[Actual Tasting] This is the baptism of Adachi! My first encounter with the rumored large portions
When you enter the store, there are counter and table seats. The menu is posted on the wall.It has an exciting atmosphere that is just like a local diner.
When I sat down,The chef suddenly brought out a photo of Angela Sato, a celebrity and competitive eater, from the back and said happily, "She came to eat here the other day!"This kind of friendly interaction is also one of the charms of this shop.
This time, we will be introducing the classic menu item that is also named after the restaurant, "Adachi Service Set (1,200 yen)" I ordered ".
First of all, please take a look! This is the "half portion" of rice.
Shortly after placing your order, the chef will ask, "How much rice would you like?"
When I told them it was my first time, they said, "Then just get half the amount!" So I ordered as instructed, and this is what came out...

Eh, is this the smallest?
A mountain of rice was piled high in the bowl. For a moment, time seemed to stop. I prepared myself for my baptism of fire at Adachi. I was glad I didn't get carried away and order a regular portion.
The side dishes are also excellent! A hearty "service set"
At the same time as the shocking rice, the main dish was also brought out.

As the name "service set" suggests, there is an incredible variety of side dishes!
The amount of rice can be overwhelming, but the side dishes are just as filling! And they're delicious!
From nostalgic stews, moistly grilled vegetables, small dumplings, spring rolls, and juicy fried chicken, everything is seasoned well with rice, and you won't be able to stop eating. Not only does it look good, but it also tastes first class.
Important rules for enjoying Gohandokoro Adachi
To get the most out of your time on Adachi (and to return safely), there are a few "rules" you should know.
Rule 1: The general is a friendly, one-man hero.
When I visited, the storeA very friendly owner runs the place by himself(It was a one-man operation!)
He handles everything from taking orders to cooking, serving the food, and even the accounting all by himself, and it's impressive to see him chatting with regulars and first-time customers alike in a friendly manner.
"Is there enough food?" "Eat slowly!"
The powerful and warm customer service is one of Adachi's greatest charms. Even though the store may seem busy, the whole store is filled with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Rule 2: [Most Important] Don't underestimate the "minimum unit" of refills
At Adachi, you can have as many refills as you like!
But here's the biggest caveat.
After somehow managing to finish the first mountain of rice, I tried to ask for a refill by saying, "Just a little more..." but the chef asked me, "How much?"
Do not make vague orders such as "a little less."
"If I don't order the smallest amount I can, I won't be able to finish it."
This is a lesson I learned from personal experience. Even if you specify the smallest physical amount, such as "just one bite" or "this much with your finger," the chef may still give you 100 times more than you expected as a "service."
A regular customer advised me to order just an earpick or a teaspoon, so I got scared and ordered just the amount of rice grain, but what came out was not much different from the amount I was initially given.
If you're not sure, first finish your side dish, then calculate the amount of rice left and carefully consider whether you want a second helping.
Summary: If you want to feel full and warm in Akihabara, Adachi is the place to go!
Gohandokoro Adachi is not just a restaurant that serves large portions.
- An unimaginably large serving of rice
- A delicious and filling side dish
- The horror and joy of unlimited refills (at your own risk)
- The powerful and warm-hearted owner runs everything by himself
It was the best experience, filling both my stomach and my heart to the brim. If you're in Akihabara and want to eat your fill or feel energized, be sure to stop by Gohandokoro Adachi.
However, be careful about the amount of refills you get!
