Remove the back cover

To work on the RAP3, you will need to remove the back cover.
There are six screws fastening it in place, so remove them all.
(There is no need to remove the rubber feet

There is a warning sticker on only one side.
Removing it will void the warranty, so do so at your own risk..

Keep the removed screws in a case or other container so you don't lose them.
I put it in my driver's case.

I removed the back cover.
The inside is surprisingly neat.

Unbutton

Two cables per buttonis stuck in it.
Remove the cable carefully, being careful not to bend the terminal on the button side.

And it looks like this.
The Faston terminals that connect the buttons may have a strong or weak crimp depending on the individual unit, so please be careful when pulling them out.

Next, press the tab on the side of the button to remove it.
There are claws on both sides, but if it's difficult to remove, try pressing one side at a time.

The button came off.
To avoid wiring mistakes, I recommend replacing the buttons one by one.

Replace the button

Next, replace the button with a new one by reversing the steps above.

Insert the button
・Push the button all the way in
・Plug in the cable

First, insert the new button into the hole.
It may be hard to insert, so be careful when working on it.
If you push the button in with force...

There will be a click and the button will snap into place.

The original buttons.

Before closing the back cover

Since I won't be replacing the lever this time, I'll just do some maintenance and close the back cover.
Use an air duster to blow away any dust or debris from inside the lever unit and around the shaft.

Close the back cover

Tighten the six screws on the back cover securely and attach the WARNING sticker.
It's no longer covered by the warranty, but it's just a matter of taste.
