Fighting Edge Blade + GamerFinger [Arcade Controller Mod]
Equipped with a silver axis mechanical switchGamerFingerI was able to get hold of this button, so in my previous article I tried to install it on an ELECOM arcade stick.
"What happens if you put expensive buttons on a cheap arcade stick?I wanted to verify ", butTo begin with, the buttons were not compatible with the arcade stick.'The result was as follows.'
This time, I was fully prepared to replace the button, including as a revenge for that article.
For detailed instructions on how to replace the buttons, please refer to the article below.

The arcade controller we will be using this time is made by HORI.Fighting Edge BladeIt is.
It has an aluminum top plate and is a high-end arcade controller priced at over 2 yen, equipped with a Hayabusa lever and buttons.
The original Fighting Edge was sold as a made-to-order product, but the new Fighting Edge can now be purchased at mass retailers.
This is an arcade controller button made by HORI.New HAYABUSA.

Silver axis mechanical switch GamerFinger button
to be re-seenGamerFingerbutton.
The exploded view has also been uploaded again.
While I'm at it, I'd like to introduce the features of the silver axis.
- The distance to push it until the switch is turned on is short
-It doesn't take much force to press the switch
- Quiet sound when switched on
・No resistance when turning on the switch
From the above,A switch that can be switched instantly with light force when high-speed response is required, and does not make any clicking noise.'This means that...'
It can be said that this is an essential item for fighting gamers who live every 1/60th of a second.
Replacing the buttons
The base plate of the blade is screwed at six points.
First, remove the bottom plate.
This is much more secure than the screws on ELECOM's arcade controllers.
Remove each screw one by one, being careful not to strip the threads.
Here's what's inside.
The buttons and levers are original to HORI, so their shapes are different from existing Sanwa and Seimitsu parts.
But,The installation is compatibleSo there is no problem with replacing the parts.
Button section.
It is connected with a Faston terminal, so pull it out carefully so as not to bend or break the terminal.
It is not tightly crimped, so you can pull it out without using pliers.

The method for replacing the buttons is the same as Sanwa's snap-on buttons.
Please refer to the following for detailed instructions.
Perhaps because the claws are designed differently, the replacement went surprisingly smoothly.
The claws on Sanwa buttons are quite hard, so it was difficult to replace them.
Replace all four buttons.
It gives a more subdued impression than the HAYABUSA part on the right.
GamerFinger button usability
Now that I've replaced it, I can't get started until I try using it.
Although it is a short time,GamerFinger buttonwas replaced withFighting Edge BladeI tried fiddling with it, clicking around and clicking.
Exceptionally quiet
The first thing that surprised me was how quiet it was.
HAYABUSA buttonThe sound when you hit it issnap snap''Bang bangIf you express it as,GamerFinger buttonteeth"Slap, slap, slap''Tintin'Something like that.'
It is not possible to completely eliminate the noise, but it can be expected to reduce the noise considerably.
The silver axis is quiet, but this may also be due to the quiet processing of the buttons themselves.
This is the inside of the button.Sound-absorbing material is laid around the switch.
It has a texture that is neither rubber nor sponge, it may be foam rubber, but I don't know the exact material.
However, it will take some time to get used to those who are used to determining combos and other actions by the sound of pressing buttons.
It depends on the person using it,Highly recommended for those looking for quiet operationIt is.
Changes in typing feel
The typing feel changes due to the use of silent materials.
To put it simply, it feels like hitting a thin rubber plate.
It's hard to say whether this is a side effect of the quieter design or if I'm just not used to it, but I'm sure I'll get used to it as I use it.
However, in this regardNot to my likingI gave up using it halfway through.
This was because I felt a slight fatigue in my fingertips after each game.
Maybe you're pressing the button with more force than necessary.
If I improve the way I press the buttons, will I be able to use it without any problems?
As a new button option
Speaking of arcade controller partsSanwa/Seimitsuis the mainstream, but this product was enough to make me feel that a manufacturer that can compete with them has emerged.
I found it particularly interesting that the mechanical switches on the buttons, which are replacement parts, can also be replaced.
Depending on the player,軸Being able to choose " can be said to be a new attempt.
If a button that is not silent were to be released, it might become the most powerful button in a sense.
