Akihabara Coin Locker Summary: Latest Edition! Where is the Cheapest?

Are you looking for a coin locker to store the spoils you bought in Akihabara or your luggage while traveling?
Here we will introduce to the extent possible information about locker usage fees, number of lockers, and how crowded they are under normal circumstances.
Please rest assured that we have carefully selected only those that are open and in operation as of November 25, 2021.

Coin lockers at JR Akihabara Station

JR Akihabara Station has over 800 coin lockers.
First, let's introduce the items installed inside and outside the station.
You can use the lockers inside the ticket gates even if you are not using the train, but you will need to purchase an admission ticket (140 yen).
By the way, if you enter using an IC card such as Suica, PASMO, or ICOCA, the admission ticket fee will be automatically deducted from your balance.

Coin lockers on the first floor of the station - tend to fill up during the day

From the Yamanote Line/Keihin-Tohoku Line platform, go down to the ticket gate floor and it is on the right hand side, near the central ticket gate.
There are lockers large enough to fit suitcases, but they are likely to be full during the day.
Accepts cash and electronic transportation money.

Coin lockers on the second floor of the station -Large lockers available

It is located at the top of the escalator leading from the central ticket gate to the Sobu Line platform.
It appears that there are even larger lockers than those on the first floor.
This is the place to store guitar cases, oversized suitcases, backpacks, etc.
Some accept electronic transportation payments, but most require coins.

Coin lockers in front of the central ticket gate - Many users

It is located diagonally forward to the right after you exit the ticket gate.
There are many users, and it is highly likely that the larger lockers in particular will be full.
Accepts electronic transportation money.

Coin lockers outside the Electric Town ticket gates - High probability of being full

It is located on the right hand side after exiting the Electric Town ticket gate, next to the Midori ticket counter.
It is rare for this space to be vacant, and there is a high chance that it will be filled regardless of its size.
Accepts electronic transportation money.

Coin lockers next to New Days - A hidden locker spot in front of the station

Exit the Electric Town ticket gate, go straight to the left, and when you go outside, you will find New Days.
If you turn left just before that, you will find coin lockers on your right.
It's a surprisingly hidden gem because it's hard to find.
Accepts electronic transportation money.

Coin lockers outside the Showa-dori ticket gate - In front of the station but with high availability

There are two machines located facing each other after you exit the ticket gate and turn right towards the outdoors.
The area around the station is relatively empty.
Please note that there is only one extra large size available.

Akihabara Tolim 1st floor coin lockers - cash only

It is located on the right after exiting the central ticket gate, behind the escalator that leads to the second floor of Akihabara Tolim.
Only cash is accepted, so you'll need to bring coins.

Coin lockers at Tokyo Metro Akihabara Station

There are also several coin lockers at Tokyo Metro Akihabara Station.
All of the shops are located outside the station, so they are also recommended for those who do not use the train.

Coin lockers in the passageway before the ticket gates - More available than JR

There are three machines lined up along the corridor connecting the Hibiya Line's JR Akihabara-bound ticket gate and Iwamotocho-bound ticket gate.
No matter which ticket gate you exit from, just go straight and you should be able to find it.
It's a hidden gem as it's more likely to be empty than JR lockers.

Hibiya Line Exit 3 coin lockers - a hidden spot in front of the station

It is located after exiting Hibiya Line Exit 3 and making a U-turn to the right.
Although it is in front of the station, it was empty so it might be a place that is easy to overlook.
Cash only.

Coin lockers at Tsukuba Express Akihabara Station

This is undoubtedly the best-kept secret in the Akihabara Station area.
Since you have to go deep underground, you may have to walk a long way depending on the exit, but this means there is a high chance that it will be empty.

Coin lockers outside Tsukuba Express Station -Underground lockers

It is located on the right hand side after exiting the ticket gate, opposite the commuter pass counter.
If you are coming from the ground, we recommend taking the elevator instead of the escalator.
This should reduce the distance and time it takes to descend underground.
Transportation electronic money is also accepted.

Coin lockers in Akihabara

Although it is a little far from the station, there are many coin lockers around town.
Please choose a good location based on your destination.

[Removal] Parking lot next to Animate Akihabara Main Building - Many smokers around

It is located in a parking lot along Tashiro Street (UDX side).
It is easily accessible, being just a 3-minute walk from the Electric Town ticket gate.
*It appears that the coin lockers installed on the premises were also removed due to the parking lot closing on June 18, 2022.

Liberty Akihabara Building No. 4 - Locker in the back alley

It is installed next to vending machines in the alley between Liberty Buildings 4 and 5.
About 5 minutes walk from Akihabara Station Electric Town ticket gate.

Mitsuwa Denki - Close to the station, equipped with currency exchange machines

It is located just outside the Electric Town exit, along Chuo Street under the Sobu Line overpass.
It's close to the station, but it's often empty, and it has a currency exchange machine so you don't have to worry if you don't have any coins.
However, please note that there are set usage times.

Opposite Marutsu Akihabara Main Store - Small size only

About 5 minutes walk from Akihabara Station Electric Town ticket gate.
It is located opposite the Marutsu Akihabara main store, next to the Times parking lot.
It is only available in small sizes, so it is recommended for people who do not carry much luggage.

Hashizume Building 1st Floor - Please note the available hours

About 5 minutes walk from Akihabara Electric Town ticket gate.
There are coin lockers on both sides of the entrance to Hashizume Building.
Please be careful as the available time is by far the shortest.

Sotokanda Bike Times - Busy surrounding area

About 5 minutes walk from Akihabara Station Electric Town ticket gate.
It is located across from Doutor Coffee Sotokanda 1-chome branch.
There are many cars parked near the coin lockers, so this is not recommended for those who are concerned about being seen by others.

UDX Akihabara - Located in the parking lot on the first basement floor

Coin lockers are located within the UDX Akihabara building, about a 2-minute walk from Akihabara Station.
Located in the basement parking lot on the first floor.
Charges are added every six hours, so we recommend using it for short periods of time.

New Chiyoda Building - In front of Kanda Fureaibashi

Exit Akihabara Station from the central ticket gate and head towards the Kanda River.
It is located in an alley under the overpass next to a pub called Miraizaka.
Cash only, so be sure to have coins ready.

Behind AKKY Main Store -Additional charges apply every 12 hours

Exit the Electric Town exit, go straight, turn right onto the road where Sushiro is located, and it's at the end.
Two units are installed along the wall of the AKKY main store.
Charges are applied every 12 hours for both machines, so we recommend using them within the allotted time.

GiGO (formerly Sega) next to Akihabara Building 3 - Cash only

From the Electric Town Exit, cross onto Chuo Street and walk north for about 2 minutes.
It is located next to GiGO (formerly Sega) Building 3, sandwiched between vending machines.
Only cash is accepted.

GiGO (formerly Sega) Akihabara Building 5 entrance - Building 5 also cash only

From the Electric Town Exit, cross onto Chuo Street and walk west for about 3 minutes.
This is the location where the Aion Akihabara store used to be.
It is located on the left side of the entrance to GIGO (formerly Sega) Building 5.
This also only accepts cash.

Rocket Amateur Radio Main Branch - Different operating hours for outdoor and indoor use

About 3 minutes walk from the south exit of Akihabara Station.
As soon as you look at the entrance, you will see lockers installed.
Please note that indoor and outdoor usage times are different.

Behind Lawson on Junk Street in Akihabara - Coin lockers on Junk Street

About 5 minutes walk from the Electric Town exit of Akihabara Station.
It is located next to the OAKakihabara building, which houses the Lawson Kanda 3-chome store.
Cash only.

[Closed] i-cafe Akiba Place store 8F - Lockers inside the internet cafe

About a 4-minute walk from the Electric Town exit.
It is installed in the internet cafe inside the Akihabara Place building.
Although it is a cafe, you can also use the lockers alone, making it a hidden gem.
*I Cafe Akihabara Place will close on February 6, 2023.

Baggage storage

Azukariya Akihabara - Luggage storage in New Akihabara Center Building

A cloakroom service located in the New Akihabara Center Building, about a 2-minute walk from Akihabara Station.
You can store up to two pieces of luggage for 1000 yen per day (1000 yen per piece after the third piece).
If you have a suitcase that won't fit in a coin locker, consider using this facility.

Coin lockers can be used for approximately 3 days.

This does not apply to all coin lockers, but the usage period is generally three days.
In most cases, packages are stored for 30 days, after which they may be discarded.
Also, be aware that if you lose your locker key, you will have to pay for a replacement and it will take longer to retrieve your belongings.
Make sure to plan your time well and use it wisely.
