[February 2020] Akihabara store closures summary [Himura ga Kyosukeni]

Now that March has arrived, the coronavirus has spread and graduation ceremonies and other farewell events are being canceled.

Akihabara store closures in May 2020 (in chronological order)

Closures, relocations, and renovations:8 stores

Hokkaido Ramen Himuro Akihabara Branch

Opening date: Monday, April 1, 2016
Closing date: Tuesday, May 18, 2020
Reopening date: Monday, March 9, 2020

The restaurant's concept is "Hokkaido Ramen," so its signature dishes are "Sapporo Miso," "Asahikawa Soy Sauce," and "Hakodate Salt."
After eating ramen, they offered a service where you could drink coffee for free.
It will reopen on March 9th as "Chicken Soba and Tai Soba Kyosuke."

Ramen Color

Opening date: Friday, June 28, 2019
Closing date: Thursday, June 20, 2020
Reopening date: Mid-March 2020
A pork bone ramen restaurant built on the site of the former Komoro Soba Suehirocho branch.
Apparently they decided to close the restaurant in order to open a ramen shop with a new concept.

The ramen shop Shikisai, located between Tirol Chocolate and Ten-Ya in Akihabara, has closed due to renovations.

Soba Restaurant Asahi-ya

Opening date: 1890
Closing date: Saturday, May 22, 2020

A long-established soba restaurant founded in 23.
I was able to enjoy some nostalgic soba noodles at a reasonable price.
It's sad to see so many long-established stores around Akihabara closing down one after another recently.

Yamaichi Electric

Opening date: 1951
Closing date: Monday, February 24, 2020 (national holiday)

This shop has been around since Akihabara Radio Center opened.
Pin microphones and headsets were on sale.

Bose Direct Store Akiba Torim

Opening date: Friday, June 12, 2013
Closing date: Monday, February 24, 2020 (national holiday)

A direct store of the audio equipment brand "BOSE" that displays and sells headphones, speakers, and more.
They also sold limited edition products that are not available at regular electronics retailers.

Akiba Kebab

Opening date: Friday, June 18, 2016
Closing date: Thursday, June 27, 2020

A kebab shop located along Showa Street.
The reason for the closure is due to the building being rebuilt, just like the McDonald's that was also located along Showa-dori.
If they find a new property in Akihabara, they will operate there.

Fujiyama Dragon Curry

Opening date: Thursday, March 18, 2016
Closing date: Saturday, May 29, 2020

This popular curry restaurant in Akihabara has been featured in the media.
It was especially popular with competitive eaters because it offered large portion menus.
It closed once and reopened around September 2018, but closed again shortly after.

Geo Games Akihabara store

Opening date: Saturday, November 10, 2018
Closing date: Saturday, May 29, 2020
Relocation and reopening: Saturday, March 14, 2020

GEO GAMES Akihabara store, which has one of the largest stocks of used games among GEO stores, is temporarily closing after two years due to relocation.
The store will be relocating to the 4th and 5th floors of Geo Mobile Akihabara Store, which sells not only mobile phones but also games.
