[August 2020] Akihabara store closings

It's September!!
There is less than a month left of the year. Normally there would be many exciting events like Christmas and New Year's Eve, but due to the coronavirus, it looks like the end of the year will be a quiet one.
In November, the prize floor of the Adores Akihabara store also closed, resulting in the closure of the entire building. Many other stores have also closed, and it seems likely that more stores will close towards the end of the year.

Closing date: Sunday, June 1, 2020

A shop specializing in aircraft models.
It will be relocated to the 2nd floor of Aeon Makuhari Store (Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture) from Thursday, November 12th.

Backdrop Akihabara store

Closing date: Sunday, June 1, 2020

A shop specializing in professional wrestling goods.
They have a wide selection of New Japan Pro-Wrestling and overseas WWE merchandise.
Belts, figures, T-shirts, and more are on sale.
This store will also be relocating to the 2nd floor of Aeon Makuhari Store (Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture) from Thursday, November 12th.

Adores Akihabara store

Opening date: July 2012
Closing date: Sunday, June 8, 2020

Last month, Karaoke ADORES Akihabara closed, and this month the prize-only floor ADORES Akihabara closed, bringing an end to a long history of eight years since its opening.

In Akihabara, vacant properties are starting to become noticeable due to the withdrawal of various stores, both large and small.

Schatzkiste

Opening date: 2006
Closing date: Sunday, June 15, 2020

A long-established maid cafe in Akihabara that had been in business for 14 years closed last month.

Schatzkiste near Suehirocho Station closed on November 15th.
I remember the first time I went there, I thought it was a place to play board games, and I was surprised to see maids there.

Family Mart Akihabara TMO Building/S Store

Opening date: July 2019
Closing date: Monday, May 23, 2020

Located behind Sofmap Akiba 1st Store, Subculture and Mobile Building along Chuo Dori, this store used to be Lina Cafe.
The exterior of this store is different from the usual FamilyMart stores, it has a stylish feel, a cafe attached, and there are plenty of eat-in spaces. However, perhaps due to location issues, it closed this month despite only opening last year.

I took a photo thinking it might be a Nixie tube, but looking at it again it looks more like an LED?
I might take another look when I get home.
The location is near the Family Mart behind Sofmap Akihabara 1st store!

It will be relocating to the 4th floor of Onoden Main Store and will be open from Saturday, December 12, 2020.

A long-established maid cafe.
We will be moving to the 4th floor of Onoden Main Store from Saturday, December 12, 2020.

Ittoya Akihabara store

Opening date: 2015
Closing date: July 27, 2020

A family ramen restaurant located near Suehirocho Station.
The free rice service was well received.

Matsumoto Kiyoshi Akiba Electric Town Entrance Store

Closing date: Monday, May 30, 2020
This is the Matsumoto Kiyoshi store closest to JR Akihabara Station.
The nearby Matsumoto Kiyoshi Akihabara store is open, so I'll use that store from now on.

Fromage Books Akihabara Store

Opening date: Saturday, November 7, 2019
Closing date: Monday, May 30, 2020

The shop was located inside Melon Books Akihabara 2nd store.
They sold doujinshi for women, BL books, and more.

The store is located on the first floor of Akihabara Tolim, a terminal building directly connected to Akihabara Station.
I was able to buy freshly baked cheese tarts delivered directly from the workshop.

A ramen shop built on the site of the former "Lanzhou Beef Noodles Sibo Lake."
It's what is known as chacha ramen.
You can freely choose the amount of back fat.

A specialty sweets shop that uses luxurious Kyoto matcha.
You can enjoy tapioca juice, soft serve ice cream, thick dorayaki pancakes, and more.

Adore's Akihabara store is closing permanently! Pablo is also closing! A series of relocations and closures!

This month has seen a lot of relocations and closures, with some stores moving from Akihabara to other areas and others moving to different buildings within Akihabara. Also, cheese tart specialty store "PABLO" has closed both of its Akihabara locations. This is a big surprise, as these stores had long lines. As stores in Akihabara are closing one after another, it's a good idea to actively visit your favorite stores!!
