[August 2021] Akihabara store closings

The state of emergency, which was originally scheduled to last until February 7, 2021, was extended and remains in effect this month.
Looking at the state of the city on weekends and other days, the number of people out and about has increased, but times are still tough for stores.
Here is a list of stores that have closed this time as well.

Seikatsu Saika Akiba Trim Store

Closing date: Wednesday, May 3, 2021

A convenience store located on the first floor of Akihabara Tolim, near the central ticket gate of JR Akihabara Station.
The store will be renovated into a Lawson and will begin operations on March 18, 2021.

PLUM LIVE SHOP Akihabara store

Opening date: July 2014
Closing date: Sunday, June 14, 2021

A direct store of hobby manufacturer PLUM in Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture.
They sell their own figurines and plastic models, as well as local character goods from around the country, and their lucky bags at the start of the year sales are very reasonable.
The store closed due to the expiration of its contract for the reconstruction of the Tokyo Kakuta Building where it was a tenant.
Other tenants in the building have also announced their upcoming closures.
This entire area is set to be redeveloped.

Renoir New Akihabara Store

Closing date: Sunday, June 14, 2021

A chain coffee shop.
The Akihabara store closed in January, and the New Akihabara store also closed in February.
In its heyday, Renoir had five stores in Akihabara, but currently only two remain open: the Akihabara Electric Town Entrance Store and the Akihabara Showa-dori Entrance Store.

AKIBA★BASE (relocated)

Temporary closure: Monday, February 15, 2021
*Information about the new store is yet to be determined.

A shooting cafe and bar where you can enjoy a full-scale shooting experience at the shooting range, and also offers a wide selection of alcohol, food and drinks.
The current store will be closed due to relocation.

Hokkai Bakery

Closing date: Tuesday, May 16, 2021

Located near Yushima Station, this long-established bakery has been in business for over 60 years.
The fluffy sandwiches were especially popular.
Apparently the building is closed due to reconstruction.

Smartphone Repair Workshop Akihabara Branch

Opening date: July 2018
Closing date: Wednesday, May 17, 2021

This store was located next to the "PC Koubou Akihabara Support Reception and Purchase Center" on Junk Street.
We repair cracked screens and battery replacements for iPhones and Android devices.
The business and support will be taken over by the iPhone Repair Workshop Kasai branch, but isn't that a bit far away?

Lantis Station AKIHABARA

Closing date: Sunday, June 28, 2021

"Lantis Station AKIHABARA" was located next to "AniON Station Akihabara Main Store."
There was also a corner where you could enjoy live footage of daily performances by artists active at Lantis on a large screen, and listen to songs in high resolution.

MTG specialty store Yumeya

Closing date: Sunday, June 28, 2021

A card shop specializing in Magic: The Gathering, located above an amusement arcade on Junk Street near Suehirocho Station.
It closed in February.

Tomatina Akihabara store

Opening date: Thursday, March 1, 2011
Closing date: Sunday, June 28, 2021

Located just outside the Showa-dori exit of Akihabara Station, this cafe offers a relaxing atmosphere in a casual, wood-grain interior.
A wide variety of about 20 types of pasta, cakes, etc. were offered.

Hot Air Restaurant Typhoon Akihabara

Closing date: Sunday, June 28, 2021

A Korean restaurant next to Tomatina Akihabara.
You can enjoy Korean home cooking such as samgyeopsal.

Tokyo Kakuta Building to be rebuilt

The announcement of the closure of "PLUM LIVE SHOP Akihabara Store" reveals the reconstruction of Tokyo Kakuta Building.
It has been announced that Toranoana Akihabara C, located in the same building, will close in April, and Sofmap 2nd PC General Store will close in May.
Yumeya, a MTG specialty store near Suehirocho Station, announced its closure at the beginning of February, which became a hot topic in the area, and it closed down much to the regret of many.
There are plans to extend the state of emergency for about two weeks in March.
It looks like it will continue to be a tough time for store owners.
