[August 2021] Akihabara store closings

It's May and Tokyo's state of emergency is still in effect.
This month, the crackdown on con cafe groups has been a hot topic, and we've compiled a list of stores that have closed in Akihabara.

Akihabara store closures in August 2021 (in chronological order)

Closures, relocations and consolidations: 8 store

Yakiniku Don Tadon Akihabara Main Branch [Relocation]

Opening date: June 5, 2008
Closing date: Wednesday, May 5, 2021

A yakiniku bowl specialty restaurant on Shoheibashi Street.
The store is temporarily closed due to relocation due to building reconstruction.

Sofmap AKIBA Store No. 2 PC General Building [Merger]

Closing date: Wednesday, May 5, 2021
Closed due to integration with Sofmap Akihabara PC and Digital Store.
It appears that the Tokyo Kakuta Building, which housed the "Computer General Building," will be rebuilt.

Sofmap AKIBA 3rd store MacCollection [Merged]

Closing date: Wednesday, May 5, 2021
Like the "General Computer Store," it closed due to being merged into the "Computer/Digital Store."
Apparently this New Cacta Building will also be rebuilt.

Aoyama Clothing Akihabara Electric Town Entrance Store [Merger]

Opening date: 2016
Closing date: Sunday, June 9, 2021

Aoyama Clothing Akihabara Electric Town Entrance Store, which has been holding a closing sale since November 2020, is finally closing this month.
Apparently this is due to the store being merged with the Ueno Okachimachi store.
By the way, before it became Aoyama Clothing, this place was home to the Akihabara Blood Donation Room.

Volks Akihabara Hobby Heaven 1 [Merger and relocation]

Opening date: 2014
Closing date: Sunday, June 16, 2021

Volks Akihabara Hobby Heaven 1, a large hobby shop that represents Akihabara, is closing.
It is scheduled to relocate and merge with Volks Akihabara Hobby Heaven 2 and open on June 5, 2021.
The Akihabara Volks store was originally located in the old Radio Kaikan building, but when it closed for reconstruction, a temporary store opened in what is now BiTO AKIBA.
After Radio Kaikan was renovated, there were two stores: Radio Kaikan and Akihabara Hobby Heaven.

Assist Wig Akihabara Store

Closing date: Saturday, May 29, 2021
A cosplay wig specialty store in the Chichibu Electric Building on Junk Street, which was famous for its canned oden.
The store moved to its current location in 2017.

Atariya Shokudo Akihabara Branch [Relocation]

Closing date: Saturday, May 15, 2021

A ramen restaurant that serves local Miyazaki ramen.
The signature dish is "Rairaimen," a dry noodle dish made with champon noodles topped with a spicy sauce containing vegetables, pork, and more.
It will be relocated to Yanaka and will begin operations in June.

PC Station Captain

Opening date: Monday, April 7, 2013
Closing date: Monday, May 31, 2021
A used PC shop located near Horin Park.
It was originally located along Shoheibashi Street, but moved to its current location on October 3, 2015.

Hobby Tengoku 1 is closing down for the first time! More vacant stores in front of the station

Aoyama Clothing Akihabara Electric Town Entrance Store, located in front of Akihabara Station, began its closing down sale last November.
Although it was called a closing down sale, I thought they would be open for a long time, but they finally closed down last month in May.
"Volks Hobby Heaven 1" will be closed and integrated into a new store, resulting in an increase in the number of vacant buildings in front of the station, but as the building itself is quite dilapidated, it is interesting to see how it will be used.

In addition, in mid-May, a group of maid cafes was arrested for operating without a license and providing entertainment, which led to a sharp decline in soliciting customers on the streets.
On the 20th, Chiyoda Ward announced that it would establish a new activist group to strengthen measures, so depending on future developments, the number of malicious stores may decrease.
