[August 2021] Akihabara's Closing Stores: 100 Yen Shops Disappear, Restaurants Withdraw

September is when the summer heat subsides.
The area under the state of emergency declaration has expanded to 13 prefectures, with five new prefectures being added, and the deadline for the Tokyo metropolitan area will also be extended.
As the number of coronavirus infections increases across Japan, what is the situation in Akihabara?

Tucano Grill Akihabara Yodobashi Store

Opening date: July 2007
Closing date: Sunday, June 8, 2021

A restaurant where you can enjoy Brazilian meat dish Churrasco on a teppanyaki grill.
Popular items included beef steak and the large "Beta Plate" menu, which weighs over 3kg in total.
In October 2020, the "Tucano Grill Akihabara 2nd store" has closed.

Curry Shokudo Kokoro Yodobashi Akiba Branch

Opening date: Friday, June 2, 2015
Closing date: Tuesday, May 10, 2021

A soup curry restaurant with its main store in Sapporo.
They served a classic soup curry made with a bouillon tomato base and burnt basil.
Additionally, Curry Shokudo Kokoro Akihabara, located on the first floor of the APA Hotel Akihabara Station Electric Town Exit on Junk Street, is still open.

Akihabara's only 100 yen shop closes.
The building is closed due to reconstruction.
It is scheduled to reopen a year later.

Kushiya Monogatari Yodobashi Akiba store

Opening date: Friday, June 2, 2015
Closing date: Monday, May 16, 2021

A skewer restaurant on the 8th floor of Yodobashi Akiba.
The restaurant allowed customers to choose the ingredients they wanted to eat and fry them, making it feel like an attraction, but a buffet style would probably be difficult in these times.

Closing date: Wednesday, August 18, 2021
The store is based on the concept of being a "mixed brand shop that carries items that are useful for working women."
It is a multi-brand store that carries three brands: "SPB," "After All," and "Eprouve."

Opening date: Friday, June 20, 2015
Closing date: Friday, June 20, 2021

A Korean restaurant inside Yodobashi Akiba.
There is a wide variety of meat dishes, including cheese dak galbi and samgyeopsal.
At lunch, you could have as much namul and soup as you wanted.

Okamuraya Akihabara store

Opening date: May 27, 2014 (Tuesday)
Closing date: Sunday, June 22, 2021

This restaurant specializes in dishes such as "meat rice" and "beef oil soba" topped with stewed beef.
There was a sign that said "Akihabara specialty meat rice," but that wasn't the case.
As of April 2021, there are only three stores left: Akihabara, Shinjuku, and Shimbashi, and the Shinjuku store closed in May.
Now, with the Akihabara store closing, only the Shimbashi store remains.

Dragon Noodle Factory

Opening date: Saturday, November 5, 2019
Closing date: Sunday, June 29, 2021

The original name of the restaurant was "Chukasoba Ryu no Me Produced by Naruryu", but later the ramen restaurant "Naruryu" in Otsuka was removed from production and the name was changed to "Chukasoba Ryu no Me ~Chapter 2~".
The name of the store was then changed to "Ryu no Seimenjo."
This ramen shop changes its name frequently, and each time the name changes, the ramen they serve also changes.

Yodobashi Akiba is France's most beloved bakery cafe, with over 460 stores worldwide.
Croissants, brioche, sandwiches, and other items are made with ingredients imported directly from France to recreate the authentic taste.

STEAK & WINE Block Yodobashi Akiba Store

Opening date: Friday, June 2, 2015
Closing date: Tuesday, May 31, 2021

A meat bar inside Yodobashi Akiba.
There was a wide selection of hearty meat dishes, including steaks and roast beef bowls.

Yakiniku no Gyuta Honjin Yodobashi Akiba Branch

Opening date: Friday, June 20, 2015
Closing date: Tuesday, May 31, 2021

A yakiniku restaurant located on the 8th floor of Yodobashi Akiba.
When it first opened, the restaurant was called "Yakiniku Gyuta Kinboshi," but it was later renovated and renamed "Yakiniku no Gyuta Honjin."
Apparently, they were serving meat from Japanese Black beef that had been purchased in its entirety.

Akihabara's only 100 yen store is closing?!

With the closure of Can Do Akihabara, the only 100 yen shop in Akihabara, the area has become a blank spot for 100 yen shops.
To use 100 yen storesOkachimachi and JimbochoYou have to go there, which is quite inconvenient.
We can't wait for the reopening, scheduled for one year from now.

Also, this month saw the closure of a large number of food and beverage stores at Yodobashi Akiba.
The restaurant floor on the 8th floor has conspicuous shutters.
One theory is that this was because they were able to withdraw before their contract expired, but this is not certain.
