[August 2021] Akihabara store closings

The fourth state of emergency, which had been in place for a long time, was lifted in September.
As people's activities begin to return to normal and the streets seem to be seeing more foot traffic, we have compiled a list of Akihabara stores that closed in October 2021.

Spin Gear Akihabara Cultures Zone Store

Opening date: Friday, June 28, 2011
Closing date: Sunday, June 3, 2021

A yo-yo specialty store produced by a world yo-yo champion.
It has been 10 years since the store moved from Nakano Broadway to AKIBA Cultures Zone in October 2011.
Apparently, the decision to close the store had been made since last year as the tenant contract had expired.
Spin Gear Koenji store will open in October 2021.

Robot Robot Akihabara store

Opening date: Friday, June 28, 2011
Closing date: Sunday, June 17, 2021

A hobby shop located on the third floor of Akihabara Cultures Zone.
They sold individual foreign toys such as Transformers and Star Wars, as well as gacha machines.
In addition, the Robot Robot Akihabara Radio Kaikan store on the 5th floor of Akihabara Radio Kaikan will continue to be open.

Kokumin Drug Akihabara East Exit Store

Closing date: Sunday, June 17, 2021

A drugstore located immediately outside the Showa-dori exit of Akihabara Station.
Before closing, the store held a clearance sale for about a month.

Yesmart Akihabara store

Opening date: July 2021
Closing date: Monday, May 18, 2021

A supermarket near Suehirocho Station that sells Korean food.
There was a wide variety of instant ramen available, and they also sold foods and alcohol that are only available in Korea, such as makgeolli and soju.

Torejaras Akihabara Main Store

Opening date: Wednesday, November 1, 2020
Closing date: Sunday, June 31, 2021

A hobby shop that buys and sells figures and anime goods.
The two stores, the "Akihabara Ekimae Store" near the Electric Town exit and the "Akihabara Chuo Dori Store" located along Chuo Dori near Suehirocho Station, have merged and relocated to become the "Akihabara Main Store."

Toei Land

Opening date: Saturday, August 31, 2013
Closing date: Sunday, June 31, 2021

A computer shop on Junk Street that stocks a wide range of flash memory, including SD cards.

Toa Sangyo COVID-19 PCR Testing Center [Renewal]

Opening date: February 5, 2021 (Friday)

The Toa Sangyo COVID-1 PCR Testing Center, which recently changed its business model just a month after opening as a discount store on Junk Street at the end of 2020, has once again changed its business model.
It has been renovated into a discount store once again as "TOA mart, a half-price specialty store."
PCR testing is also continuing in the same building on a reduced scale.

Restrictions on restaurants lifted, Akihabara returning to normal

Following last month, stores in AKIBA Cultures Zone are closing again this month.
The building opened on July 1, 2011, and this year marks its 10th anniversary, so it's probably time for a change of tenants.
In addition, Kokumin Drug Akihabara East Exit Store, which had been located at the Showa-dori exit of Akihabara Station for a long time, will close.
It was conveniently located at a drugstore right next to the station, so it's a shame.

Restrictions on restaurants have been lifted since October, and more and more establishments are now open for business as usual.
I hope that Akihabara will return to its former vitality.
