Closing date: Sunday, June 30, 2021
THE ALLEY is a tapioca shop famous for its deer logo.
It closed about three years after opening during the tapioca boom of 2019.
The number of tapioca shops is steadily decreasing, and there are now only a few left in Akihabara.
The complete end of the tapioca boom
The rush of store closures due to the coronavirus pandemic appears to be calming down, with only a small number of stores closing this month.
The number of tapioca shops that once sprung up has decreased, and "THE ALLEY," which once had endless lines, has also closed.
The end of the boom is in sight.
In addition, Miyoshi Wireless, which has been in business for over 60 years, will close in December.
The number of hobby item shops inside Akihabara Radio Center is increasing, and the scene is changing from a row of electronic parts stores.
2021 was a year with little positive news for Akihabara, but hopefully 2022 will be a year that will shake that off.
