[August 2022] Akihabara store closings
March saw the state of emergency being lifted after about two and a half months.
Akihabara is also seeing a gradual increase in visitors, and it seems to be becoming more lively.
However, even in such circumstances, it seems that some stores were forced to close.
Let's take a look at the Akihabara stores that closed in March 2022.

Opening date: Monday, April 20, 2020
Closing date: Monday, May 7, 2022
A restaurant chain affiliated with Nomimono Co., Ltd., located across from Akihabara UDX.
The store has been closed since March 7th, but will now remain closed.
They are currently looking for a new location for their store within Akihabara.
Menya Haruka Akihabara Branch

Opening date: May 9, 2014 (Tuesday)
Closing date: Thursday, June 17, 2022
Menya Haruka, which served Taiwanese mazesoba, has closed due to relocation.
The new store will again be located in Akihabara and is scheduled to open in early May.
Coupon Shop Free Ticket Akihabara Station Store

Opening date: Friday, June 22, 2017
Closing date: Monday, May 21, 2022
Free Ticket Akihabara Station store, which sells and buys gift certificates, will close on the 21st.
It was the earliest opening ticket shop in Akihabara.
Akiba Barber

Opening date: 1980
Closing date: Saturday, May 26, 2022
The barber shop along Showa Street has closed.
It is a long-established restaurant that has been in business for about 40 years, and many of its regular customers are expressing their sadness at its closure.

A pudding specialty store at Manseibashi intersection.
It closed less than a year after opening.
Hokkaido Iccho Akihabara store

Closing date: Thursday, June 31, 2022
Izakaya on the 3rd floor of Akihabara Place along Chuo Dori.
As the name suggests, the restaurant mainly serves Hokkaido-style dishes such as seafood.
Seta Wireless

Opening date: 1973
Closing date: Thursday, June 31, 2022
Seta Wireless, located inside Tokyo Radio Department Store, will close at the end of March.
It seems that the owner, Mr. Seta, made the decision due to poor health caused by his advanced age.
Akihabara's long-established stores "Setamusen" and "Akiba Barber" close
In March, Seta Musen, which had been in business for about 60 years, and Akiba Barber, which had been in business for about 40 years, closed their doors.
This was sad news for those familiar with the old Akihabara.
Additionally, both "Western Food is a Drink. Akihabara Branch" and "Menya Haruka" are scheduled to relocate within Akihabara.
This is reassuring news as we can experience it again.
Now that normal business operations are back in full swing, I'm sure there are many business owners feeling relieved.
I hope the economy will continue to recover in the future.
