[August 2022] Akihabara store closings

May was a month when the city was bustling with activity during Golden Week.
Akihabara was also packed with various sales and events.

Akihabara's closed stores

MARKS & WEB Atre Akihabara

Opening date: Friday, June 19, 2010
Closing date: Sunday, June 8, 2022

The Atre Akihabara store of skincare brand Marks & Webb has closed.
It has been in business since 2010 when Atre Akihabara 1 opened.

Sofmap AKIBA Used Digital Store Purchase Center

Opening date: Monday, April 29, 2017
Closing date: Sunday, June 8, 2022

Sofmap Akihabara Used Digital Store Purchase Center will close on May 8th.
It has now merged with Sofmap Akihabara Ekimae, which opened on April 29th.
Janpara D-Style Akihabara store is scheduled to open on the site.

Excellent product road

Opening date: May 30, 2015 (Tuesday)
Closing date: Tuesday, May 17, 2022

Itpindo, which sells smoking accessories such as VAPE and cigars, will close on May 17th.
When it first opened, it was a store selling brand-name goods, but from June 30, 2015, it was renovated and opened as a smoking supplies shop, keeping the same name.

Role & Roll Station Akihabara store

Opening date: Friday, June 13, 2020
Closing date: Sunday, June 29, 2022

R&R Station, located on the 4th floor of Hobby Station Akihabara Main Store, has closed.
This specialty store sells TRPGs and board games, and was relocated and renovated from its previous location on Chuo Dori in 2020.

TAMASHII NATIONS TOKYO [Relocation]

Opening date: Saturday, November 27, 2019
Closing date: Sunday, June 29, 2022

Tamashii Nations' flagship store will close on the 29th.
The store is scheduled to relocate and renovate, and is scheduled to open on Thursday, June 23rd.
The new store will be located on the former site of the Gundam Cafe.

KENTEX BASE

Opening date: Saturday, November 25, 2020
Closing date: Sunday, June 29, 2022

A concept shop for the watch brand KENTEX BASE.
It has been in business since shortly after the opening of Seek Base.

Yurakusha Hikaru store

Opening date: Saturday, November 4, 2020
Closing date: Tuesday, May 31, 2022

The TCG shop run by YouTuber Hikaru has closed.
The store was opened at a cost of over 50 million yen, but it appears that the impact of COVID-19 was so great that it was forced to close.

Highly-known stores such as R&R Station and Yurakusha Hikaru store are closing.

There were few stores closing in April, but unfortunately the number increased in May.
I'm sure there were some store managers who decided to close their stores after Golden Week.
From now on, they will gradually focus on attracting customers during the summer vacation.
It will be important to keep an eye on which stores will survive.
