[August 2022] Akihabara store closings

With the number of tourists increasing, Akihabara is regaining its vitality, although not to the same extent as before the coronavirus pandemic, so we have compiled a list of stores that will be closing in December 2022.

Story Cafe Yurindo Yodobashi Akiba Store

Opening date: Saturday, March 12, 2016
Closing date: Sunday, December 4, 2022

A cafe attached to the Yurindo Yodobashi Akihabara store.
You can bring in books and read them before you buy them.
Yurindo is also scheduled to close in January.

Family Mart Kanda Manseibashi Store

Opening date: July 31, 2018 (Tuesday)
Closing date: Wednesday, December 14, 2022

Convenience store in front of maach Ecute.
In 2018, the store was remodeled from Thank's to FamilyMart.
Stores from the Sunkus era appear in the film "Love Live! The School Idol Movie," so be sure to look for them.

Nadeshiko Sushi

Opening date: October 1, 2010 (Friday)
Closing date: Thursday, December 22, 2022

A sushi restaurant run by a woman that has become a hot topic on the internet.
There had been no indication of business hours for some time, but on December 22, 2022, it was announced on the website that the store would be closing.

Omusubi no GABA Akihabara store

Opening date: May 23, 2013 (Thursday)
Closing date: Monday, December 26, 2022

A rice ball shop along Chuo Dori, near Suehirocho Station.
They also had an all-you-can-eat fried oysters option.

Banbaya, a popular bar in Akihabara

Opening date: July 14, 2017 (Tuesday)
Closing date: Tuesday, December 27, 2022

This izakaya is located right next to the Showa-dori exit of Akihabara Station, above the curry shop C&C.
Immediately after opening, the store was popular for its reasonable prices.

Kushikatsu Tanaka Akihabara Idol Store

Opening date: Monday, June 21, 2021
Closing date: Friday, December 30, 2022

Kushikatsu Tanaka Akihabara Chuo Dori store, located along Chuo Dori, was renovated in 2021.
They also streamed live and sold merchandise.
The store opened on June 21, 2021, but was closed for two days before reopening on the 23rd of the same month.

Koedo Funachu Akihabara UDX store

Opening date: May 9, 2006 (Thursday)
Closing date: Friday, December 30, 2022

An eel restaurant on the 3rd floor of Akihabara UDX.
It has been a tenant since the building first opened.

Shina Soba Tanaka Myojinshita Branch

Opening date: Wednesday, December 30, 2015
Closing date: Friday, December 30, 2022

Shina Soba Tanaka Second, which opened in 2015, has undergone two renovations.
They served ramen made with duck broth and dried sardine broth.
The store is closing because the building it is in, Chiyoda Ward Sotokanda Housing, is scheduled for demolition due to aging.

Ogawa Eye Clinic Akihabara

Opening date: June 2018
Closing date: Friday, December 30, 2022

An eye clinic on the 7th floor of Yodobashi Akiba.
It is closed due to contractual reasons.

Kiriya Akihabara

Opening date: 1948
Closing date: Friday, December 30, 2022

The company has a history dating back to the Edo period, and after operating as a general goods store and trading overseas, it opened as a grocery store (bakery) in 1948.
After closing, the new business is scheduled to start in spring 2023.

Closing status at the end of 2022

The decision has been made to demolish Chiyoda Ward's Sotokanda Housing complex, and tenants are closing their businesses one after another.
If this area is redeveloped, the appearance along Shoheibashi Street will change dramatically.
