The Kanda-Akihabara area is home to many eel restaurants, likely due to it being a riverside town.
However, I was wondering if they were all expensive, when I found out that there is a restaurant where you can eat delicious eel for just 1600 yen during lunch hours only.
I had to go, so I went straight to try it!!

Kubota is a directly managed store of a river fish wholesaler, and there is a wholesaler across the street from the store.
This is something to look forward to, as you will be able to enjoy carefully selected, high-quality eels at the restaurant.

Kabayaki is good, but shirayaki is also the best!! So, let's start with shirayaki.
Kubota offers a whole Edomae-style grilled fish and half a Kansai-style grilled fish, and this time I ordered the Kansai-style.

Serve without soy sauce, with wasabi and salt.
However, the eel flavor is strong, so you may not even need salt.
It's a lightly grilled dish that's fatty but not too heavy, making it something you'll want to keep eating.
It would have been great if I could have had a drink, but I was on my lunch break at work so I held back.

This is because the eel liver is served as skewers.
That said, a soup of this quality for just 200 yen is a plus.
We recommend ordering this dish together with other dishes.

Unadon - Limited to 20 servings at lunchtime

The main dish this time is unadon.
It is only available at lunchtime from Monday to Saturday, with a limit of 20 meals.
I visited that day after 1pm, but they said it was the last one left so I ordered one.
In addition, the rice in your unadon can be increased to a large portion free of charge.

The half-fish kabayaki is Edomae style, cut open from the back.
The sauce is not too thick and has just the right amount of saltiness, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of the eel.
The rice is cooked on the firm side, and the meat is soft enough to crumble easily with chopsticks, making it a perfect match for kabayaki.

The 1600 yen unadon is a bargain! You can enjoy high-quality eel.

This time I had unadon at Unagi Kubota, which was a reasonable and very satisfying lunch.
It's a little far from Akihabara Station, but we encourage you to make the effort and try the limited 20 servings.
Of course, there are many other attractive a la carte and set menus available.
Next time I'd like to try the unaju and grilled liver skewers...with some alcohol.
