[Advantages of choosing a gaming headset at a store]

First, before introducing the store, we'll explain the benefits of choosing a headset in person at a store rather than shopping online.

Try out a gaming headset

How many hours do people around the world play games in a row?
Once I start, I can't stop for two hours.
If you're a gamer, you might spend dozens of hours playing.
Wearing a headset for such a long period of time will naturally cause discomfort, such as sweating, ear pain, and headaches.
To avoid that discomfort,It's important to buy a headset that's right for you.
No matter how famous a brand is, there are times when it just doesn't suit you.
In a store, you can feel the texture, fit, weight, and ease of use.
While it's easy to buy online, you'll likely find a better headset if you try them on and listen to them in person at a store.

Listen with a gaming headset

The thing that most people care about when it comes to headsets is sound quality.
You may be able to find out the specs by searching the Internet, but you won't really understand it until you experience it for yourself.
Recently, there are high-spec headsets available that come equipped with surround sound functionality (such as 5.1ch or 7.1ch).
Simply put, sound was previously expressed using two stereo speakers, one on the left and one on the right, but with the surround function, the speakers are (pseudo) positioned so that you are surrounded by sound, allowing you to experience clear, three-dimensional sound. This is recommended for FPS players, as it makes it easier to tell where the sound is coming from.
The price is still a bit high, but once you listen to it you'll understand how amazing it is.

Compare gaming headsets

If you can literally try it out in the store, you can immediately compare the sound quality.
To be honest, even if you try just one pair of headphones, it's hard to tell (personal opinion).
However, if you can compare the two, you'll probably be able to tell that this one is somehow better.
The frequency range that humans can generally hear is20Hz ~ 20KHzHowever, since the frequency range that people can hear varies, it seems that the wider the range of sounds that can be produced, the better.
Each manufacturer has its own unique sound tuning, and the thickness, extension of mid- and high-range sounds, and overall balance seem to vary, so you should choose something that won't tire you out when listening to it.

Shop Rating
1. Can you actually try it?
2. Is there a wide selection of products?
I will try to keep the above points in mind.

[GALLERIA Lounge]

When it comes to gaming devices in Akihabara, this is the place to go!
This is a recommended shop for people who say, "You won't know until you try it!"

On the first basement floor here...
You can try out gaming devices on a high-spec gaming PC!
The first 2 hours are free!! An additional 60 minutes is 350 yen (tax included), and an additional 180 minutes is 1,000 yen (tax included).
There are 10 seats available. Reservations are possible, so if you have the time, it would be best to make a reservation.
However, to use the Galleria Lounge, you will need to register as a member of the Dospara app and provide identification for the first time.

There are plenty of gaming devices available, not just headsets, so if you want to try out a variety of different things, you should head to the Galleria Lounge.

[TSUKUMO DOS/V Hall]

Tsukumo has several stores in Akihabara, and among them, the Tsukumo DOS/V store is recommended for headsets.
Of course, headsets are available at other stores, but if you want to try them out, this is the store to go to.
The gaming device corner is on the 4th floor(Elevator available)

Tsukumo's poster contained more information than any of the other stores introduced here.
However, it's not just a long list of specs, but rather it's written in proper sentences.I wonder if they make each one individually...

I went there on a weekday evening and during the day, and it wasn't crowded with people so I was able to take my time looking around.

A very blue corner.
It seemed like we could try out not only the headset but also the keyboard and mouse.

There are signs hanging proudly in the store saying "Listen Now!", so I feel safe talking to the staff.

[Sofmap AKIBA 2nd store]

There are five Sofmap stores in Akihabara,Shop No. 2deals in gaming devices.
It's on a main street so I was able to get there without getting lost.

As expected from Sofmap, it's spacious.
If you go a little further into the first floor, you will find a row of gaming devices.
The corners of the headsets are tightly packed together, which made it easy to compare them.

However, you can only listen to the content connected to computers in this area.
Limited to some Razer products.
It seemed that other products could be connected to a smartphone or other device and tested.

[ark]

This shop is located a little far from the station.
The storefront somehow feels nostalgic...
Even though it was a rainy weekday, there were a few customers.

The gaming devices are located at the back of the store.
The headsets are not all placed together, so be careful not to miss them.
The items came with tags that contained small but concise descriptions.

When I asked the store clerk about trying out the headphones, he said that if I really wanted to, he would connect them to a computer. It looks like the basic style will be to connect them to a smartphone or similar device and try them out.

[Yodobashi Akiba]

Yodobashi Akiba is right in front of you when you exit Akihabara Station.
There are many entrances to the store, so even I, who am directionally challenged, was able to find it.
There is also an audio corner,The gaming corner is on the 2nd floorPlease note that it is in.

It's easy to read because it's clearly divided by manufacturer.
The aisles are wider than in other stores, so you'll have plenty of time to look around at the headsets.
When there are people around, you can't take your time to pick it up, try it on, or choose one.

However, it doesn't seem possible to connect it to a computer and use it, so it might be a good idea to narrow down your choices by manufacturer or series and then go to a store where you can listen to them.

[e☆Earphone]

This is in a slightly hard to find location.
It was my first time there and it was a really great place.
It must be heaven for people who are obsessed with audio.

There is a gaming corner with a row of headsets.
OtherGamer's Choice Headset RankingThat's why it was fun!
There are two PCs available, so if you ask a staff member you can try listening to the music there.

There's also a wide selection of headphones, so if you already have a microphone or don't care about a headset, there's plenty to see.
There is a wide variety of products that are easy to browse, and as it is an audio specialty store, the knowledge of the staff is also reliable.
For me, this is the best place to buy a headset..

Find the right headset for you

I visited many stores this time, and each one had its own unique features, so I realized that choosing the right store is important. The distance between you and the staff, the number of people, the size of the store, the product lineup, and whether you can listen to music samples.
We understand that everyone has different tastes, but we hope you can find a shop you like!

Finally, I know this sounds a bit strange, but using earphones, headphones, or headsets for long periods of time is dangerous! If you become hard of hearing, you won't be able to enjoy games, so...Everything in moderation!
