A campsite in Akihabara? We tried out the camping practice area under the elevated railway line.

A limited-time campsite has opened under the elevated railway in Akihabara.
This was only open for a limited time during the summer, so I think not many people were able to use it.
However, in 2023, the Akihabara campsite officially opened!

So this time, I went to Akihabara Camp Practice Ground, a hot spot in Akihabara, and would like to introduce it to you.

What is Akihabara Camp Practice Field?

It will open on March 19, 2023 under the elevated railway line connecting Akihabara and Okachimachi.
This is where SEEKBASE and 2k540 are available.


It is located about a 5-minute walk from Akihabara Station, in the same location as a campsite that was previously open for a limited time.
The site also has rental camping gear and an area with sample setups, giving the impression that it is especially geared towards people who don't have much experience camping.
The name of the facility might lead you to believe it's a place for practicing camping, but even existing campers can enjoy it, as you can try out gear you don't own.

Use with day camp/full rental plan

This time we used Campass for the full rental plan for day camping.
The full rental plan includes everything you need for camping, including tents, chairs, tables, cooking utensils, and lanterns.

First, let's start with the basics of setting up a tent.
The tent we rented this time was for 1-2 people and wasn't that big.
However, it is quite hard work for beginners and they don't know how to use it...
With the help of our staff, we set up the tents.
In this camping area, you can drive in stakes, so you don't have to worry even if the wind is strong.

All in all, the tent was set up in about 20 minutes.


From here, let's move on to other gear besides tents.

Let's start by introducing the gear that comes with the full rental plan.
Speaking of camping, this is it! A folding chair.

Low table (can be made higher by extending the legs)

A stove and cooking table. By attaching attachments, you can also install a lantern holder, a cooking utensil hanger, etc.


Other cooking items included are frying pans and pots, knives, tongs, and chopsticks.

However, if you do not have a cutting board and will be cutting, it would be better to bring your own, even if it is a small one.

There is also a Hanamasa meat store near Campass, so you can go there to do your shopping.

30 seconds walk from the campass.
There is also a Hanamasa nearby, so you can purchase ingredients on the spot.

The only drawback is that they don't sell single-use or small condiments, but they do have a wide variety of ingredients so I think it's easy to use.
Speaking of camping, it's all about BBQ! For those who love it, we also sell chunks of meat.
They also rent out BBQ sets, so you can enjoy meat without having to worry about carrying a cooler box when you travel, which is great.

Enjoy a relaxing time while making lunch

We checked in at 11am, finished setting up, and by the time we returned from shopping it was past noon.
From here on, I would like to start cooking camp meals.
The dishes we will be making this time are as follows.
・Pork sausage
·steak
・ Hot sandwich
・Camp coffee

Let's start by cooking something simple that only requires grilling.
Turn on the stove and cook the sausages in a frying pan.

It's done when it's golden brown and has some brown marks on it.

Next is steak.
This time I chose aitchbone and seasoned it with just salt and pepper to bring out the flavor of the ingredients.


Next, we made hot sandwiches using a hot sandwich maker, which is also available for rental at campass.
Ham, cheese, ham, cheese...layer the ingredients like a mille-feuille and place them in a hot sandwich.

Heat the bread until it is cooked thoroughly inside and browned.


Coffee can be brewed using the provided pot and dripper.
Moreover, the coffee beans are crushed in a mill and then thoroughly dripped.

Grind the beans, boil water, and slowly brew the coffee using a dripper.


Enjoy the leisurely flow of time and savor a luxurious cup of coffee that you can't get with instant coffee.

Experience a unique everyday life in the heart of the city

When I looked up, I saw skyscrapers... and the sound of trains running...
