The season for Bandai Namco's fan meeting, also known as the regular shareholders' meeting, has arrived again this year.

By the way, here's what happened last year:

I went to the 15th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders of Bandai Namco Holdings Inc.

Due to the impact of the coronavirus, participation in this general meeting was by lottery.
By the way, I only own one unit (100 shares), but a seat was "prepared" for me, so it doesn't seem to matter whether I accumulate or not.

State of the venue

Bandai Namco General Meeting
The venue is the usual Hiten.
When you enter, you first disinfect your hands with alcohol.
Next, your temperature will be taken with a camera.

Eikosei hand washing

Watar

The aisles were lined with panels of currently popular IPs such as Sentai, Ultraman, Digimon, Taiko, Gundam, Love Live, and Wataru.

attendance ticket
Present your voting form and winning notification email at the reception, receive your attendance ticket, and enter.

Back of attendance slip
As announced, this attendance ticket did not include an admission ticket to Hanayashiki.

disinfection
Disinfectant alcohol was available throughout the venue.

Water
I was given bottled water.

Photography is prohibited so there are no images, but there are 120 seats in a 10x12 layout.
The seats were quite far apart.

Business Report

Now, after President Taguchi's announcement about the use of masks and shields, we will give a business report.
Every year, the business report slides were narrated by a voice actor with a connection to Bandai Namco IP.

What this year

Mitsuaki Taguchi (President and CEO)

English learning is necessary to prepare for life, learning and interaction with the global environment.
IT Skills (programming logic) is necessary to prepare for the needs of the future.
Financial literacy is necessary to prepare for creating, managing and being smart with time and wealth.
And it's dubbed in real time.

Business ReportInformation for otakus onlyWhen I write it out,

The entire group
- Coronavirus is affecting retail and logistics.
- The cancellation of events and the resulting impact on promotions are being felt.

Toy Hobby
- Record annual performance, with toy and hobby products aimed at adult audiences performing well in each country.
- The impact of COVID-19 on toy and hobby production has largely recovered.
- Sales of Amuse prizes and DCD have been affected by location closures.
・Gunpla 40th Anniversary Project
-Appealing to the world about the Gundam IP.
- Innovation/promotion to maximize the value of Dragon Ball.

Network Entertainment
- The coronavirus has caused delays in the development of games and apps and has affected their operation.
・Development of a new network system
-Large-scale home video game currently under development.
・Plans for Pac-Man's 40th anniversary are underway.

Video IP related
-Due to the impact of COVID-19, delays in video production, especially dubbing, are serious.
Large-scale events cannot be resumed yet.
- We are currently considering both online and offline live events.

The toy hobby industry seemed to be really popular.
It seems that the so-called Blue Bandai products are popular among otaku.
There also seemed to be a lot of enthusiasm for real-life events, so although it may be difficult for a while, let's look forward to live events and the like.
Is the "ASOBINOTES ONLINE FES" to be held on June 28th a test case for online events?
Speaking of Pac-Man's 40th anniversary project, it's true that Pac-Man CE2 was released for free the other day, and the Bandai Namco Fest logo design also promoted Pac-Man.

Question corner

The Q&A corner is always fun, but due to COVID-3 measures, there will only be three questions this time.

Q.
Regarding Real Entertainment, please tell me the details of the extraordinary loss this fiscal year.
I would also like to see souvenirs brought back next year. I would be happy if you could hold the social gathering again once the coronavirus situation has subsided.

A.
There were two irregular events this fiscal year: 3 billion yen in work-in-progress development for commercial use, and 3 billion yen in existing losses related to stores that will be difficult to correct from this fiscal year onwards.

Q.
I saw the news that you donated 1 million yen to the WHO, but what was your purpose?

A.
COVID-19 is a global disaster. After considering organizations that could provide worldwide medical support and vaccine development, we decided to donate to the WHO.
In fact, we have received reports that the money donated to the WHO is being used to support medical institutions such as UNICEF and to develop vaccines.
Additionally, within Japan, the company is using technology from group companies to produce medical face shields and is digitally distributing gymnastics exercises for children.

Q.
I'm enjoying Tales of the Rays. After the advance lottery for Tales Fest held at Asobi Store in February, a re-lottery was held, but I'd like to know how it came about.

A.
We apologize to our fans for the inconvenience. There was no problem and we had to redo it, but we decided to hold a new advance lottery, although it has not been made public. There was no fraud involved, so please rest assured and continue to support the Tales of series.

This concludes the business report questions with these three questions.

There were also questions regarding the proposal to dispose of surplus funds.

Q.
Thank you for the high dividend. But I was more looking forward to the general shareholders' meeting than the dividend. I've never asked a question myself, but I always enjoy hearing the nerdy questions. However, this time, due to COVID-19, the number of attendees and the number of questions allowed have been limited. There are also many empty seats. The state of emergency has been lifted, so isn't it fair to say that this is an infringement of shareholder rights using COVID-19 as an excuse? I'd like to know how many people applied for this lottery and how the selection was made.

A.
I cannot answer questions because the agenda item is about the disposal of surplus funds. However, the guidelines for general shareholders' meetings issued by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications state that the safety and health of shareholders should be the top priority at general shareholders' meetings, and we followed this as a guide. If everyone who won the lottery had attended, the empty seats would have been filled, but it seems that some people were unable to attend for some reason. This was an exceptional case, but we would like to take your opinions into consideration for future general shareholders' meetings.

This year there were no exhibits or souvenirs, making it a rather low-key event.
This year saw a lot of anniversaries, such as the 40th anniversary of Gunpla and the 15th anniversary of Idolmaster, so I was hoping to find souvenirs of that nature, but unfortunately.
I hope next year's general shareholders meeting will be held as usual!
