Last time I modified the lever, so this timeQuieter buttonsI would like to do this.

With the parts I obtained this time, I was able to silence the buttons I liked.
Sanwa has also released an illustration button, so this will be good news for those who have been hesitant to use it due to the sound.

Let's get started right away.

Purchase button parts from Sengoku Densho [Quiet arcade controller]

Here are the parts I got this time.
This is a flat washer that was introduced on Sengoku Densho's Twitter.

Apparently, Sengoku Denki Shoten also received many inquiries about the button noise-reducing parts, so it can be said that this part has finally been released.

Akihabara in the rain.
I somehow managed to arrive at Sengoku Densho 30 minutes before closing time.

Flat washers are not displayed in stores,Purchase by taking the inventory card to the cash registerIt was as follows.
It can't be helped because each one is so small, they disappear.

So I got what I was aiming for.

The best thing to do is to quickly get home before you get caught in the heavy rain.
Farewell Akihabara!

Types of flat washers [Quiet arcade controllers]

Flat washers for arcade controller buttons come in four types: two materials and two thicknesses.
Let me introduce them to you first.

The material issilicon(white)Rubber (black)There are three types:

The thickness of both0.5 mm1 mmThere are some.

The one I purchased this time was φ30.
The arcade controller comes equipped with φ30 and φ24 controllers, with the standard φ30 controllers having 6 to 8 on the top plate.
The φ24 is a smaller size and is used for options, start buttons, etc.
They also sell flat washers for φ24, but I didn't purchase them because I won't be using them this time.

Now, let me briefly explain what the differences are between these materials and thicknesses.
- Made of silicone
It has a large rebound and is very quiet.
It feels harder to press than a normal button.
- Made of rubber
It has less rebound than silicone, but is still fairly quiet.
For people who prefer not too much backlash.
It has become.
This is a matter of personal preference, but you can try out each flat washer by pressing the button attached to it in the store, so be sure to ask a staff member!

Attach flat washers to the buttons to make your arcade controller quieter

Here's the button we'll be using!
Sanwa button OBSF-30 series.
It has a black exterior combined with a metallic color, but there are no differences in materials or other aspects from other OBSF-30 models.
*Rainbow Live wallpaper is subtly reflected.

First, disassemble the button.
If you look at the side, you'll see that it's just caught on a barb, so if you push it up with a flathead screwdriver or something similar, it will come off easily.

Once disassembled, insert the flat washer inside, put it back together and you're done.

This is a simple process that can be repeated as many times as necessary.

※note
Please note that due to its structure, flat washers cannot be attached to HORI HAYABUSA buttons.
The hook for the upper part of the button is on the bottom, so if you install a flat washer, the button will not be able to be assembled.
It is only compatible with the OBSF-30 series or products with a similar structure.

Button sound comparison [Quiet arcade controller]

Here, we would like you to listen to the difference in the sound produced by the material and thickness of the flat washers used.
We've also incorporated some buttons that are marketed as silent buttons, so please check out the difference in sound.
Here are the buttons I prepared.
From the left
・OBSF-30(With or without flat washer)
・Samduksa silver axis buttons
-Sanwa Estromer silent buttons
- GamerFinger silent buttons

The included layout is as follows:
Please check it out with the video.

We actually pressed the buttons to compare the sounds.

One of the best solutions for silent buttons [Quiet arcade controller]

We asked you to check the difference between silicone and rubber, and the difference between 0.5mm and 1mm, but was there anything that caught your attention?
In terms of the strength of the repulsion
GamerFinger > Silicone 1mm > Elastomer > Rubber 1mm > Silicone 0.5mm > Rubber 0.5mm > Samduksa > Sanwa Regular
Quietness when pressing the buttons
GamerFinger > Silicone 1mm > Elastomer > Rubber 1mm > Silicone 0.5mm > Rubber 0.5mm > Samduksa > Sanwa Regular
That's how I personally feel.

For me, I want the bounce to not be too big and for it to be reasonably quiet, soEquipped with 0.5mm silicon" and settled on this.
If you like GamerFinger, the 1mm silicone will probably feel similar, and if you like Elastomer, the 1mm rubber will be a good choice.

The advantage of incorporating flat washers isprice"
The silicone is cheap at 50 yen and the rubber is 60 yen, and even if you buy them together with the regular Sanwa buttons it comes to about 430 yen, so it is a more reasonable way to quiet down your buttons than buying more expensive ones like GamerFinger.

If you are bothered by the sound of buttons, why not try this method?
