Akihabara's high-tech workshop space DMM.make AKIBA

Did you know that there is a workshop space in a prime location in Akihabara where you can use large-scale machine tools such as NC milling cutters and UV printers?
I had the chance to see the inside, so I'd like to share it with you.

I went to DMM.make AKIBA

The location is the Fujisoft Akihabara Building.
DMM.make AKIBA is on the 10th and 12th floors.
The 10th floor is the "Studio" with various machine tools, and the 12th floor is the "Base" with office space and meeting rooms.

"Base" is a working space where you can also use soldering.

First, we visited the Base on the 12th floor.
The first thing you see when you open the door is the logos of the companies using and sponsoring this space.

There are also soldering irons available for rental at the entrance.

Team room area

Occupancy space.
There are 3-person and 6-person versions, but this is the 3-person version.

Meeting space

The conference room was converted from a recording room.

Next is the Studio on the 10th floor, which is the highlight of this facility.

Digital fabrication

This is the 3D printing room, with a row of printers.

3D scanners and UV printers are also available here.

works

The Works is a space with a variety of machine tools, mainly cutting machines.

Small items can be rented and consumables are sold at the front desk.

Air creeps into each work space.

Various tools and lathes.

Large machine tools such as NC milling machines are lined up.

Circuit

A room for circuit design.
There were a lot of oscilloscopes.

Sewing

A space with industrial embroidery machines and more.
It is often used when making wearable devices.

Analysis

A room for various testing equipment such as a shielded room, thermal shock tester, and constant temperature and humidity tester.
It seems difficult for an amateur to use...

Go and see for yourself

This facility is easily accessible from Akihabara Station and is quite attractive with its array of expensive machine tools, but it is geared towards businesses and I felt it would be a little difficult for individuals to use. However, if you are motivated enough to use the equipment to its full potential, it seems like it would be well worth the money.
In any case, if you're interested, you might want to start with the "Holiday Membership," which is cheaper and can only be used on weekends and holidays.
