[EVO Japan 2020] Participation Report [1/24-1/26]
I was moved!!
First, let me say one thing.
I was moved!!
That's all there is to it.
That's why Mr.MK, the person behind the scenes, attended the fighting game festival "EVO Japan 2020I participated in the event, so I would like to share my experience of the three days.
I would be happy if this becomes an opportunity for people to become interested in EVO and start playing fighting games.

[EVO Japan 2020] Held at Makuhari Messe from January 24th to January 26th
A festival for fighting gamers from all over the world,EVO Japan 2020 was held for three days from January 24th to January 26th, 2020..
The place is very famous as an event space.Makuhari MesseIt is.

The super popular "Super Smash Bros. Smash Brothers SPECIALIsMaximum number of participants: 3072 peopleHowever, the maximum number of participants was reached soon after recruitment began.
Other titles also had more than 500 participants, meaning that the total number of participants on the first day easily exceeded 5000.
...I drank an energy drink in the morning to get pumped up and headed to Makuhari Messe.
[EVO Japan 2020] January 24th (first day)
We arrived at the venue around 10am.
Admission to the venue is free on the first and second days.

This day is primarily dedicated to the qualifying rounds.
First, the players will compete in a match to advance to the next round.
Since there was still some time until my match, I killed time by glancing at the corporate merchandise sales and other qualifying rounds.
This time, my qualifying round started at 15 p.m., but there was a reason why I arrived at the venue early.
To purchase a Victrix arcade stickIt is.

I received information that a new version of Victrix's arcade stick will be released before the rest of the world, so I thought,I guess I have no choice but to buy it" I headed to the booth with a large sum of money in my hand.
The headset will also be on sale.If I have the money left over, I'll buy a headset." I was thinking.

Impossible!!!!
So I bought an arcade stick (V2).
Compared to the beta version and V1, the paint is matte (the collaboration version has the old paint version) and it also comes with a touchpad, making it even more complete.
*I will review Victrix (V2) at a later date!
Next, we head to the Sanwa Electronics booth.
This is to obtain the push buttons and lever balls that are only available at the venue.
Get the Red Bull colored metallic buttons!!
I remember buying the limited edition buttons and lever ball at the game show.

Other items on sale included bags specifically for arcade controllers and various Sanwa products.
I was also interested in Sanwa arcade controllers, but... they cost money, yeah.

Arcade controllers were available for rental at the venue.
Basically, each gamer brings their own device (weapon), but there are times when they become unusable due to various problems.
In that case, I might need your help.

Furthermore, you can choose from several types of rental arcade controllers!

While I was talking to some acquaintances and looking around, my own match was approaching.
The title we will be participating in this time is "BLAZBLUE CROSS TAG BATTLE (BBTAG for short)』.
First, they aim to get out of the pool, but they are only allowed one loss.If you lose twice, it's over..

He lost the first match and was dropped into the losers round (Sad events).
This was the start of a battle that he could not afford to lose, but due to various circumstances he was defeated in the qualifying losers final, which determined whether he would advance out of his pool.
My EVO Japan ended on the first day...

[EVO Japan 2020] January 25th (Day 2)
Day 2.
On the first day, I had to leave early due to the large number of people and the games, but on the second day I was able to participate without any pressure or anything like that.

By the way, from the second day, a tournament called RAGE (Shadowverse) was being held in the hall next door.
Side by side"and"I feel a little emotional that this event is being held.

On the second day, the final qualifying round will be held for players who passed the qualifying round on the first day to compete on the third day, and depending on the title, even the grand final will be held.
OtherVolunteer side tournamentThere will also be a lot of people there, no matter what.

*Pop'n Music tournament (fighting game...??)

*Calls calling for the production of Justice Academy 3 (of course, a tournament was also held).

*ABC's recommended official Chaos Code tournament (the next one is also in the works)

There will also be a quick rundown of merchandise.
Popular items sold out early.

For some reason, there was also a Nissan GT-R on display.
*It seems that Nissan is not a sponsor or supporter of EVO Japan.

I'll also show you the engine room.

Get in and have some fun.
Wow... the ride is much more comfortable than the old GT-R...

Each muffler is handmade by a craftsman, and apparently each one is tempered to a different degree.

The price is amazing!!!
It's 1300 million!!

...Huh? I was at the motor show?
With these thoughts in mind, the second day ended!
Only the last day remains!
[EVO Japan 2020] January 26th (Day 3)
Day 3.
Rain was forecast, but we managed to avoid bad weather.

By the third day, the number of people gradually decreased.
Well, on the final day, there was one mission left.
The inscription "EVO Lantern' is being collected.
In conjunction with thatHave Victrix (V2) laser engrave it.
First of all, if you come to Makuhari before the final battle, you should definitely try the ramen shop "Tadokoro Shoten” Fill your stomach.

Eat Hokkaido Miso Super Butter Ramen.

This is a miso ramen specialty store, and its specialty is miso ramen made with several different types of miso.
The miso used at each store is slightly different, and at the Makuhari store,
・Ise miso
・Edomae miso
・Hokkaido miso
is the main focus.
With our stomachs full, we headed to the venue.

On the third day, you need a ticket to enter the venue.
Exchange your wristband for a ticket and head to the venue!!

Since it was the day of the Grand Final and tickets were required, there were significantly fewer people than on the first and second days.
I felt a little sad as I sensed the end of the festival.

First, have it laser engraved at Victrix.
If you send the ABC Twitter logo by email,Feels good', so you can quickly give the go-ahead.

Visually it would look better to engrave it on the lever side, but there's an illustration I'd like to put on the lever side.
I hope that the next time Victrix comes to Japan, they'll be able to carve it.
*The laser engraving pattern is posted on Twitter (see below).
#Victrix It's laser engraved!
I was pretty excited to carve it into the 4 yen box. pic.twitter.com/8X1JB8B5Sz— Akihabara Base Camp (@akihabara_bc) January 26, 2020
I watched the Smash Bros. finals until it was time to pick up the items.

I'm not an expert on Smash Bros., so I didn't understand the details of what was going on, but the commentary and explanations were thorough and I was able to enjoy watching the game while focusing on the key points.
Every match is exciting,The players' serious expressions, the joy of winning, and the frustration of losing are directly conveyed. There was an excitement that can only be experienced by watching the game in person.

Finally, you will receive a lantern with the Akihabara Base Camp logo on it.
Mission complete with this.
I left the venue a little early to avoid getting caught up in the rush of people returning home from the event.
*Stable behavior to protect the lantern.
I'll be back...EVO Japan...I wonder where it'll be held next?

[EVO Japan] A must-visit for gamers [EVO]
What I thought after participating for three days
The passion of fighting game players is incredible!!!
You should definitely participate!!
If you're a gamer, you should at least come and watch!
These are the three.
You can watch the tournament on video streaming sites, so I encourage you to at least check it out and get a feel for the atmosphere.
Even if I don't know the title, I get drawn in.
