[April 2023] Summary of Akihabara store closures [Closings/Relocations]

Halloween is over, and with the Christmas and end-of-year mood quickly approaching, time seems to pass by quickly.
So how many stores in Akihabara closed in October?
This time, we've compiled information on store closures.

Kyo Kuroki [Relocation]

Opening date: Monday, April 20, 2011
Closing date: Sunday, June 1, 2023

A super popular ramen restaurant located halfway between Akihabara and Asakusabashi.
It was a famous restaurant that often had long lines, but it closed due to a relocation of the store to a new location near Ginkgogaoka Hachiman Shrine near Asakusabashi Station.

Ramen Kagemusha Annex

Closing date: Friday, June 5, 2023

An annex of a Jiro-inspired ramen restaurant located under Kanda Myojin Shrine.
After the store closed, another Jiro-inspired restaurant opened in the same location.
The main branch of Kagemusha is still open near Junk Street.

paradox leather craft shop

Closing date: Sunday, June 12, 2023

A leather goods specialty store located on platform 5 of the Sobu Line at Akihabara Station.

Alteration Concierge Big Mama Atre Akihabara Store

Opening date: Friday, June 19, 2010
Closing date: Sunday, June 15, 2023

A shop that handles everything from repairs to cleaning of clothes and accessories.
The closure was announced on the website.

Yellow Submarine Akihabara RPG Shop [Relocation]

Closing date: Sunday, June 22, 2023

Yesabu is a store specializing in TRPGs and board games located near Bellesalle Akihabara.
The store moved to a new location near Suehirocho Station on Saturday the 28th of the same month.

Trading Card Space Akihabara [Relocation]

Opening date: Saturday, November 18, 2023
Closing date: Wednesday, May 25, 2023

A card shop located along Junk Street.
It was operating on the site of Kitchen Jiro and the free information center, but closed due to demolition and relocation of the store.
The new store will be relocated and reopened on November 5th on the 4th floor of the Chichibu Denki Building, located immediately to the right of the previous location.

Homme Men's Con Cafe

Closing date: Saturday, May 28, 2023

A men's maid cafe with a knight-like concept.
Previously, the store was called "Bijuram: Homme," which was based on the concept of men wearing jewels.

Onuma Electric

Closing date: Tuesday, May 31, 2023

A long-established store selling audio-related parts on the first floor of Akihabara Radio Center.
I think many people will be sad to see it close, as the store had a wide selection of electronic parts such as audio cables and plugs.

Chepro

Closing date: Tuesday, October 31st

A Czech antenna shop located along Kuramaebashi Street.
It sold stationery, organic skincare, accessories, and more.

BANPRESTO LAB

Opening date: Saturday, November 18, 2021
Closing date: Tuesday, May 31, 2023

Banpresto's exhibition facility was located inside SEEKBASE under the Akihabara Station overpass.
The exhibits included prize figures scheduled for release, new items, and elaborate diorama sets.

Konuma Denki in Akihabara Radio Center closes

In April of this year, Kotobukiden Kikita Shokai closed, followed shortly thereafter by Onuma Denki, and Radio Center is becoming even more of a deserted street. Fortunately, some stores have been able to survive by relocating, but many people may feel sad to see the old Akihabara streetscape changing.
