I went to the In a Gamescape exhibition. A high-minded game exhibition.
I went to the In a Gamescape exhibition, which was held at the NTT Communication Center until March 10th, so I'd like to share my impressions with you.
In a Gamescape Exhibition

I've been playing games since I was in elementary school, so I'm sure it will bring back a lot of nostalgia!
I went to this exhibition on that basis alone.
By the way, Yoiko's Arino was promoting it.

It was on the homepage100 yen discountUse the couponAdmission ticket for 400 yenPurchase and enter.

The panel was right at the entrance.
yeah?????
It's true that I've never looked at video games from a critical perspective, but I still don't get it...
I thought that was strange, but I didn't come here to hear such a complicated story, so I checked the official website.
公式サイト抜粋
"Video games, as a form of contemporary culture, have been recognized at the Japan Media Arts Festival organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and have a significant influence on modern society. They reflect the state of modern society and can even be said to provide insight into the state of society in the future. This exhibition examines the state of modern video games and the culture they create, and attempts to understand what can be learned from them from the perspectives of both indie games and video game art."
Ahh, that kind of thing!
So it turned out that the exhibition wasn't what I had hoped, but I had already paid for it so I decided to enjoy it to the fullest.

As explained, this is a work in which a fighter jet glides endlessly across the water, and another in which Mario sleeps endlessly under a tree.
Is something really going to happen?I thought so and continued watching for about 5 minutes, but what I got wasThere was just a sense of emptiness.

A car that keeps spinning... I remember doing something similar when I was in middle school...
Again, I ended up watching this for about five minutes without any purpose.
There were many unusual works on display, but there were also many games that you could actually experience."PLUG & PLAY","COIN","INSIDE"To"LIMBO"You can play famous indie games such as:
Play while being watched by others"PLUG & PLAY"It has a strange surreal quality to it.

A crowd simulator that symbolically represents anonymous human figures"Kids"This was also on display as a playable game, so I played it, and it was a unique and fun game.

I was also able to experience VR, which allows you to possess other people and play catch or musical instruments.
The photo shows me being possessed by a woman watering plants, and watering them in a daze. The experience was short, about 3 minutes, but I felt it was just the right length for the content.

These postcards are cut-out screenshots from a game that was distributed for free.
This is the shot I chose, and although it's a boring scene, it doesn't look like a game screen and is somehow stylish.
Even though I went on a Sunday afternoon, it was pretty empty and I was able to look around freely, which was great, and all the works looked at games from a different perspective than usual, so I had the strange feeling that even though I didn't understand anything, they were somehow interesting.
