How to fix a chattering MMO mouse [G600]

Akihabara BC

FINAL FANTASY 14 (hereinafter referred to as FF14)The simultaneous worldwide raid race is just around the corner!!

EveryoneFF14Are you playing?
I play every day, even sacrificing sleep.
Maybe because I've been playing it almost every day, the left click of my mouse has been slow recently.チャタリングThis has started to happen.
NowI use a Logitech G600 mouse, which is specialized for MMOs.However, without this, you won't be able to play FF14 to your satisfaction.
I could buy a new mouse, but it would be weird to replace it when there are no problems other than the left click, so I decided to fix it.

Since I had the chance, I decided to write an article about the process of repairing my mouse, hoping that it will help many people who are troubled by chattering.

*What is chattering?
When you click, the mouse switch turns on and off repeatedly at high speed.
It's annoying because it double-clicks automatically and you can't drag..

Introducing the Logitech G600 we will be repairing this time

- Equipped with 12 side buttons.
- Tilt wheel makes browsing easy.
・Key settings for all buttons can be changed.
This is the ultimate mouse that can be used not only for MMOs, but also for office work and drawing.
However, it is quite heavy in its initial state.

First, disassemble the mouse

Disassembly is possible with one Phillips head screwdriver and one flat head screwdriver.
For those who don't want to strip the screw threads#0Precision screwdriverI think your work will go much more smoothly if you prepare the following.

I heard that most chattering is caused by corrosion of the contacts, so I prepared a contact cleaner.

Disassembling the mouse is very easy.
First, there is a bottomマウスソール' using a flathead screwdriver.
G600 isJust held on with double sided tapeSo it can be easily peeled off.
*Be careful not to injure your hand with the screwdriver due to excessive force.

Next, remove the screws.
It is screwed in at four places on the bottom, so remove them with a Phillips head screwdriver.
*It is a good idea to put the screws in a paper cup or other container to avoid losing them.
Once all the screws are removed, remove the top and bottom parts.
It comes off easily without any special force.

This part connected to the base is designed to come off when you lift the connection part up.

I don't like heavy mice so I removed the weight.
110gI think it was about that much.

It's a little hard to see, but this part is turned over to prevent the base from slipping.
The board can be easily removed by wiggling it with a flathead screwdriver or similar.

Repair the faulty part

It's made by a manufacturer famous for its high durability switches.

This cover is also only held in place by nails, so you can simply pop it off.
*Please excuse the slightly blurred image.

When pressed from above, the contacts come into contact and the switch turns on.
It seems that chattering occurs due to corrosion of this contact, so we spray a restorer and wipe away the corrosion.

After wiping off the contact cleaner, reassemble the mouse in the reverse order that you disassembled it.
But before that, check that the chattering has been fixed before tightening the screws!

...It wasn't fixed.
In fact, the reaction has worsened,Trembling, trembling, tremblingThe mouse cursor just moved slightly.

In other words,
Contact corrosion was not the cause of chattering!
I realized that.

Porting unused switches

If the contact cleaner didn't fix it, I thought there was no hope, but then an idea came to mind.
"Maybe it will be fixed if we transplant a non-broken switch?"
Luckily, I found an intact switch in the mouse in front of me.

This part is called G shift, and can be used like the shift key on a keyboard while it is pressed, but I don't use this G shift function.
If you port this...
With a glimmer of hope, we will proceed with the Switch port.

First, prepare a soldering iron and solder wick.

Remove the broken switch, then remove the G-shift switch which is (probably) not broken.
*The melted solder can be removed by heating the solder sucker with a soldering iron.

Transplant the (presumably) unbroken switch into the location of the left button!

I plugged the USB into my computer and checked the status...
It worked beautifully!
No chattering either!

Attach the base and screw it in firmly, then attach the removed sole using double-sided tape, sticking it as close to the shape of the sole as possible.

This completes the mission!

Now you can rest assured even if production has ended!

Take a look at one image here.

This Razer MMO mouse was originally sold for around 1 yen, but since production has been discontinued, the price has skyrocketed.
*There are various reasons for the price hike other than the end of production, but we will not go into detail here.

I don't know when this will happen to the mouse I'm using now.

Sometimes, instead of just replacing your console, consider repairing it to enjoy a better MMO experience.
The best thing is something that feels comfortable in your hand!
