August 11th: Kanda Myojin Summer Festival Eve

August 11th is the eve of the Kanda Myojin Summer Festival.
The weather was nice that day, and as soon as I got off at Akihabara station, I saw a few people wearing yukata.
We arrived at Kanda Myojin Shrine around 17pm. There were already a lot of people in the shrine grounds, and what was impressive was that the line of VSPO members waiting to buy merchandise stretched all the way from inside Kanda Myojin Shrine, all the way to the torii gate.

At the Kanda Myojin Summer Festival, various events were held, including stalls set up by each member and live broadcasts on large monitors inside Kanda Myojin Shrine.

An event will also be held at Kanda Myojin Shrine where you can enjoy a variety of delicious gourmet food for just 500 yen.

Craft beer is best served from a tap. Mmm! Delicious.

I guess it can't be helped given the location, but when there was a line it made it very difficult to get through the area.

August 12th, Anime Song Bon Odori

August 12th is Anime Song Bon Odori Day!
From well-known songs to the latest Bon Odori songs, let's all dance the traditional Japanese dance, Bon Odori!

On August 11th, a preliminary rehearsal was held for Kanda Myojin Ondo, an original Bon Odori song from Kanda Myojin.

Kanda Myojin Ondo is said to be the first original song created in the hundreds of years of history of Kanda Myojin Shrine.

Kanda Myojin Summer Festival and Anime Song Bon Dance

At first, there were still not many participants, probably because we were running out of time, but more and more people started dancing, and eventually the number of participants grew to quite a large number!
I wonder if this is what it would be like if Eejanaika were still being performed today.

As the anime song Bon Odori dance reached its climax, the sun began to set and the atmosphere became more pleasant.
It was hard to tell how many people were participating in the Bon Odori dance as they were shown on the monitors installed in the temple grounds.

Deformed characters of VSPO members also took turns dancing on the screen.
The flat world and the real world are blended together in a nice way, and it really feels like Akihabara.

Will it become synonymous with Akihabara events during the Obon period?

The Kanda Myojin Summer Festival is a relatively new festival, but judging from the excitement this year, it seems to be an event that attracts a considerable number of people.
The content of the collaboration is more modern and free-thinking, so more young people will likely participate, and the traditional Japanese culture of Bon Odori has been fused with anime songs in a very clever way.
As for the Kanda Myojin Ondo, I was impressed by how it has a modern yet easy-to-remember melody.
