"Maybe it will be fine if we take it apart and do some maintenance on the parts that look dangerous?"

So this time, I disassembled the PS4 and performed various maintenance, so I would like to introduce various things such as how to disassemble and maintain it.

Disassembling the PS4

First of all, you can't get started until you disassemble the PS4.
First, prepare the things you need to get started.
・ Phillips screwdriver
It's a good idea to have a few different sizes ready!

・Torx screwdriver
I need a T8 size one. I'd rather not get something too cheap.
*The photo shows a set. Items priced around 1500 yen tend to be of better quality.

・エアダスター
Just wipe off the dust. One new one is enough.
※If it's big, cheap stuff is fine.

Disassembling the PS4 [HDD cover]

This is easy.
The HDD cover can be removed by simply sliding it up.

The HDD will get in the way, so let's remove it first!

Disassembling the PS4 [Exterior]

You'll need a Torx screwdriver immediately.
*Once you remove this sticker, your product will no longer be supported. If you want to turn back, now is the time!

There are four in total, so peel them all off and remove the screws.

Disassembling the PS4 [Battery]

It is held in place by several screws, so remove them.
It's basically a Torx, but it's secured in two places with screws like this.

The battery came off.

The connector connected to the board is surprisingly short.Be careful not to cut it.

Disassembling the PS4 [Circuit Board]

Next, remove the base.
The first thing you need to do is remove the plate, but there are a ton of screws.
However, it is easy to understand as there are arrow marks on the screws that need to be removed.

Remove all visible screws.
Be sure not to lose the screws you remove.
For some reason, there is only one screw for the circuit board on the battery side, so let's remove that as well.
The black cable you see below is the wireless receiver cable. It's just stuck in place, so just pull it and it will come off!

Popcorn

Don't forget to disconnect the cooling fan cable.

Remove and turn inside out!

Disassembling and cleaning the PS4 [CPU fan]

If you've made it this far, you can remove it easily!
...This is pretty nasty dirty...
That will also reduce cooling performance.

The CPU fan can be removed by simply removing two screws.
Once removed, remove any dust using an air duster or cotton swab!

Improve the cooling performance of your PS4

Since I've already disassembled it, I'd like to improve the cooling performance of the PS4.
This time we will be tweaking the CPU.
This part gets hotter than the battery or HDD, so you'll want to take proper measures to prevent heat.

Here it is freshly disassembled.
The grease has hardened and is no longer providing sufficient cooling performance!

First, wipe off this grease...

I'm going to apply new grease, and this is what I prepared this time!

This is too luxurious for a PS4! (It costs about 800 yen)

Press out a portion the size of a grain of rice and spread it thinly with the included spatula.

Then reassemble the PS4 in the reverse order of disassembly.
You can see at a glance that it looks beautiful!!

Test boot before putting the cover back on.
The PS4, which normally has a fan running, is now completely silent!
