Customize your arcade controller lever with the Sanwa Denshi custom parts set

Akihabara BC

Do you all modify your arcade controllers?
While new arcade controllers themselves have not been selling well, the arcade controller parts industry has released a number of new products.
The lever parts we will introduce this time are excellent items that will further expand the range of arcade controller modifications.

How good are the lever parts made by Sanwa Denshi, the largest manufacturer in the arcade controller parts industry?

Introducing the Sanwa Electronics JLF lever custom parts set

I bought it at Sengoku Densho Radio Department Store.
This part is an attachment part for Sanwa Denshi levers (model number: JLF).
You can change the weight of the lever and the input feel of the switch by combining each colored part.

Let's check the contents of the purchased parts and think about how to combine them.

I have previously written an article on removing lever parts and basic disassembly and assembly in my OTTO DIY replacement article, so please check that out as well.

First, let's check the contents of the parts set.
Sengoku Densho also has a more detailed brochure, so be sure to check it out when you visit the store.

Guide tip, guide plate

Initially, it is equipped with the same lever as that installed on regular JLF levers.
By removing this...

It is possible to replace the guide with one of various shapes.
In addition to the default guides, four additional guides are included, allowing you to experience five different input sensations using just these guides.

・Purple circle guide
→This is a guide that is often installed on Korean levers.
It becomes easier to perform commands such as a single rotation, but more difficult to perform diagonal inputs.
・Yellow octagonal guide
→It makes it easier to input diagonal and up/down directions than with the normal square guide.

The above two features offer significantly different operability from the standard square guide.
Rather than being a matter of personal preference, it seems to be for people who want to change the controls to suit the game.

There are two things in this guide that I would like to highlight:
These are red and blue square guides, which have the same operability as square guides but subtly change the feel of the controls.
For example, the red square guide

There are notches on the top, bottom, left and right, giving you the feeling of typing like an octagonal guide.
However, since it is not a large notch like an octagonal guide, it feels more like a slight catch rather than a solid input feeling, and it truly acts as a ``guide'' for your input.

The blue square guide has an even more unique notch.

There are no cuts at the top or bottom, but it is curved, and the corners are the most curved of all the square guides.
Furthermore, there are curved notch guides on the left and right sides, which gives the keyboard a slightly unique input feel.

actuator

A part that is inserted into the shaft to adjust the distance to the switch.

The thinner the actuator, the longer it will have to travel before hitting the switch, and the thicker the actuator, the shorter it will have to travel before hitting the switch.
If you want to operate the lever as quickly and as little as possible, change to a thicker actuator.
However, since the switch is activated with just a slight operation, delicate lever operation is required, so it is a part that requires careful consideration.

ス プ リ ン グ

This is also a part that is attached to the lever shaft.
The strength of the spring can be used to change the amount of force required to push the lever and the rebound force that returns the lever to neutral.

Although it is a little small, you can get a rough idea of the load by looking at the image below.

Changing the weight of the spring reduces the chance of accidental touches to the lever, but it also requires more force to input commands and operate the lever.
If you feel that the standard spring is too heavy, it is best to start by adjusting the blue spring.

Combine parts to create your own operating environment

There are several modification parts specifically for levers available, but this custom parts set is by far the most flexible of them all.
There are expensive, highly customizable, one-of-a-kind lever parts like the Golden Lever, but there aren't many inexpensive parts that can change the usability of the lever.

This custom parts set is a great set that allows you to change the stock lever to your liking.
If you're dissatisfied with the lever you're currently using, why not give this one a try?
