The possibilities for use are limitless, and you can combine the various actions provided to create your ideal device.

Elgato StreamDeck Unboxing and Appearance Check

Now let's start unpacking the Elgato StreamDeck (hereinafter referred to as StreamDeck) and checking out its appearance.
When you open the box, you'll see the device and instructions.
This manual isn't particularly helpful for using the StreamDeck, so just put it away in the box without reading it!

The main unit and USB cable are integrated, so you need to be careful not to break the cable.
Personally, I prefer detachable USB cables, but I can't trust companies that still use Micro USB in the Reiwa era. (An outrageous statement)
Every time I think about it, I wonder if people's unnecessary sorrows would be eliminated if everything were all integrated into one device like this one.

Before we look at the device itself, let's first take a look at the StreamDeck's base.
The base is engraved with the Elgato logo in great numbers.

The base can be set to two different heights and four different angles.
You can adjust the height to suit your needs, so you can use it at a low position like a left-hand keyboard, or at a higher position like a tablet propped up.
Personally, I prefer a position somewhere between vertical and horizontal, which makes it easy to press and still see the buttons.



Also, there is rubber on the bottom of the legs so they won't slip off easily.

StreamDeck settings and usage

Next, we will explain how to set up and use the StreamDeck itself.
But before I start, let me say a few words.
"StreamDeck can do almost anything you can imagine.'
That's all I have to say.

It is a versatile device that can be used in any way depending on how you use it.
However, if you try to set up settings with complex behavior, the settings will be correspondingly difficult, so let's start with a safe approach and introduce some things that will improve the efficiency of your everyday work and reduce slightly tedious operations.

How to use StreamDeck [Installation Method]

First, let's explain the basics of using StreamDeck.
When you first connect StreamDeck to your PC, all you'll see is a welcome animation in the center, as shown in the image below.

In order to set things up and use all of the features, you'll need to install the StreamDeck app, but first head over to the official Elgato website.

Once you arrive at the Elgato official website, open the download page in the top right corner of the screen.

As shown in the red frame, select the "Windows version" of "STREAM DECK".
There is a Mac version as well, but I will continue explaining using the Windows version.
After selecting the device and OS, click the arrow in the blue frame to start downloading.

Open the downloaded file and install the StreamDeck app.
Basically, just follow the instructions on the screen and you'll be fine.


If you want to change the installation location, select a folder.


Once the installation is complete, open the app.
Various operations can be set even in the default state.

The basic key setup is as follows:
Please remember that this method will be used for key settings unless you have made special settings.
Here we will set up shortcut keys as an example.
In the action list on the right, there is an option called "Hotkeys."
"Hotkey" allows you to register any key or key combination you like.

Next, we'll show you how to change the icon for the button you set.
First, here's an example of what happens when you change the icon.

That's right, you can set your favorite image to the button you set to make it visually easy to understand.
By setting a game icon, you will know which button will launch the game instantly, and by setting a function icon within the app (cut or eraser tool), you will know which function is set.
Essentially, it's a way to enhance visual information, and it's one of the main reasons to buy a StreamDeck.

First, prepare the image you want to use as an icon.
You can use free materials, but if you want to create your own, Elgato has officially released icon creation software (browser version), so you might want to try using that.
If you select "Create a new icon" from the icon settings arrow, your browser will open and the icon creation software will start.

This is a browser icon creation software that is equipped with basic layer functions and text input, but it is not very user-friendly as it does not address some of the needs and you can only use the provided icon materials.

If you want to create a simple icon, dedicated software will suffice, but if you want to create something elaborate or process materials, you will need image editing software.
Please prepare any icons or illustrations you wish to change.

Once you have prepared the image you want to set, the next step is to set the icon image.
Setting images is not particularly difficult; simply drag the image file you want to set onto the icon.

How to use StreamDeck [Basics]

In this article, I will first introduce the basic usage.

Launch the app

This is the current state of my SteamDeck!

You can call up the game you want to play or the app you want to launch with just one button.
Launching the app is faster than launching the Steam client or EPIC client, but some games can only be launched from the client, so even if you play frequently, it can be a bit of a hassle to have to go out of your way to launch the appropriate client for some games.
However, I think there are illegal copies and other things going on, so I guess you could say it's healthy.

So, here's how to set up games and apps to launch:
Drag the rocket mark (?) "Open" from the menu on the right side of the screen to the button.

Click the red frame to select the app or software you want to open.
Please note that some Microsoft apps cannot be selected for launch.
If it can be launched, it can also be set via a shortcut.

This time I set up the launcher for "Genshin Impact."
You can delete the text displayed on the icon by deleting the text in the title input box in the red frame, so if you only want to set the icon, delete the text.

That's all the setup is complete.
All you have to do is press the StreamDeck button and the Genshin Impact launcher will launch.
App/FileYou can set up various apps by changing this part!
I've made some changes to the previous image and changed the button settings.

I have placed the games I want to launch in one go, other game clients, streaming software, and although I don't really recommend it, I have set up a "one-touch password entry" feature.
Convenient features include the ability to mute the microphone and mute/unmute the volume.

StreamDeck [Advanced]

PSO2 custom.
Various sub-palettes can be launched with a single touch.
Technique types are difficult to use, so it is designed to be used primarily with Mate types.
It doesn't work very well because of the game guard, but I'm optimistic that it will be usable eventually.

FF14 custom.
I don't use them that often on a regular basis, but when I do, I use them quite a bit, so if you set them to one-touch, this is a list of actions that will be quite convenient.
Most of them are party-related. Yorootsu is completely used as a joke.
Dig is surprisingly useful, so setting it up can help you get things done quickly.
I haven't set anything else up yet, but I'll be adding some.

Automatic profile switching setting

Basic usage, the final setting is "Automatic profile switching"is.
This is a great feature that automatically switches profiles based on the active window or browser. It's definitely worth setting it up.

Well, let's start by explaining what a profile is.
Select "New Profile" from the drop-down menu.

You should see a blank page with no settings configured.
This is the newly created profile.

This group of settings (one page) is called a profile, and you can switch between dedicated pages for different things.
StreamDeck has the ability to automatically switch between these profiles depending on the currently active window.

Here's how to set it up:
First, click the gear icon on the profile settings screen.

Next, select the profile you want to set and set which window will switch to the selected profile when it becomes active.

This setting means that "when the FF14 window becomes active, it will automatically switch to the FF14 profile."
I have also set it up as shown below, so that when the conditions are not met, the default profile is displayed.
