Switch Pro Controller for PC games!

I've made a bold statement right off the bat, but I think that pro controllers are suitable for playing PC games.
There are some concerns about durability, but the LR trigger part is easy to use.
That's why I prefer to use the Switch Pro Controller when playing action games.
The button labels on the screen may be a bit cluttered, but you'll just have to get used to it!

Disassembling and cleaning the Switch Pro Controller

Now let's take apart the Pro Controller.
This time, I prepared a standard Switch Pro Controller.

Depending on the production lot,The durability of the stick part isI've heard this before, but I don't think you need to worry too much about what's being produced these days.
There were some issues with the durability of the stick, with the stick becoming worn down and the resulting dust getting inside the device.
I bought it two years ago and haven't had any problems so far.

Switch Pro Controller Disassembly Tool

Here are the tools we will use

The set includes a bit driver, tweezers, and an opener.
There are also special tools such as Y-shaped screwdrivers, but we will not be using them this time.

Remove the outer shell of the Switch Pro Controller

First, remove the grip parts.
It's held in by a single screw so it's easy to remove.

Remove the screws on the left and right grips and pull!
The grip also comes off easily.

If you lose this screw, you won't be able to secure the grip, so be sure to keep it safe so you don't lose it.
I put it in a paint tray.

Next, remove the screw under the grip cover.
There are four on each side. Be careful not to lose them.

Remove the four screws to remove the back cover.
This will come off easily too so it won't be a problem.

Also, remove the battery.

Remove the base of the Switch Pro Controller

After removing the exterior parts, the next step is to remove the circuit board from the controller.
First, remove the five screws in the red frame.

This is the only part where the parts fit together tightly, so we will use an opener.
The parts don't fit together too tightly, so you can use any opener.

When you open the controller, you will see that it is connected by a cable, so remove one of the red frames.

Once you pop it off, the disassembly is complete.
In this state, maintenance of the stick part, which is particularly prone to malfunction, can be performed.

Cleaning the Switch Pro Controller

Cleaning your controller isn't that difficult.
It's OK to simply clean the contacts or remove any debris that has accumulated inside.
In fact, cleaning it regularly will help your controller last longer.

Use an air duster to blow away any debris that is bothering you.

Any air duster will do, but I recommend a set of several.
If you want to clean the inside of the machine in the future, you'll probably use an air duster.

Now, if you remove the stick you can see the parts for the analog stick inside.
It seems that plastic debris accumulated here can cause the stick to malfunction, so we use an air duster to blow the plastic debris away.

In some cases, you may need to use a contact cleaner as a first aid measure.
This is used when the metal contacts are dirty or corroded, so refrain from using it unless there is a particular problem.

Switch Pro Controller and other mods

I said it was a modification, but it's not that big of a deal.
This is for those who do not need the controller's vibration function.

You can physically disable the vibration function by cutting the cable in the red frame.
However, once you cut it, it becomes difficult to repair.I really want to physically remove the vibration functionPlease do not do this unless you are one of the following people:

Finally, assemble and finish

If you take it apart to the maximum, this is how many parts you get.
When performing serious repairs or modifications, all parts must be disassembled, but if it's just a simple cleaning, it can be done with the same amount of disassembly as this.
With the price of controllers rising these days, you'd probably like to be able to use one controller for as long as possible.
If disassembling and cleaning it can restore the original feel, it's worth a try.
